Damn Amberville, it looks exactly like mine, Tobaccoburst! Mine is a 1981. It has no lacquer suck or orange-peel, but also no stinger. Congrats on your find. Enjoy it.

My pickguard is translucent as well. It appears that the red component has faded considerably. So much so that I made a new celluloid pg for my '97 CES. I'm not convinced the original is made from celluloid, as there is no discernible smell of camphor when scuffing up the underside.

That's a real beauty of a guitar.
I used to think the hard part was finding excellent instruments. That is hard enough, but the harder part (having learned this the hard way) is knowing which of those excellent instruments to keep. Not parting with guitars that should have stayed.
