With "Guitar Mike" DeArmond pup. I kind of had expected a more trebly sound from the DeArmond but nothing could be further from the truth. The guitar sounds very woody, mellow and warm with this pup. Guitar is well preserved and looks fantastic. Great neck to boot! Pretty modern playability. This is one great guitar dudes.

Sounds great and nice playing again, again & again !
that is another one I sold previously. Guitar is really slutty
within a year and a half it had been owned by the current owner, someone in germany, the fellowship of price inflation, your buddy of the guitarshop, someone in belgium, and then the current owner again
the DeArmond is such a nice pickup for that type of sound, still unsurpassed IMO

What fat, lovely, rich sound! That thing was made for bop, and you deliver it.

DB that sound is unreal and sounds almost like a Wes with a pick. It is maybe one of the best sounds I have heard just incredible in all respects. It works for single line and chord melody when you get something like this you just stop. Yes something like finding the perfect wife and then saying well the search is over it us till we depart. Your playing is always listenable and top notch.............that never hurts even if the guitar sounds not so good.

The guitar and the De’Armound Guitar Mike sound great. If you still have that guitar at your home, could you take a close-up photo of the De’Armond short/neck rod where it is attached to the neck? There has been some discussion around here about using the short rods instead of the monkey sticks. I have an original De’Armond neck rod, but the sides of the necks on my Gibsons are sculpted out in that area, so the rod can’t be attached to a flat area on the neck. Just wondering how it was done on that L-12. I have attached a photo that shows what I am talking about.
Thanks,
Keith

Try a fiberglass shim. You can buy pre-finished fiberglass sheet material online in every size(mil) and cut perfectly to size. They also can be shaped with a Dremel for a perfect, permanent fit. I hope this helps you.

Unfortunate for the guitar too! I bet that guitar enjoyed being played like it was meant to be played.

I recorded it through the same amp and compared it with the L12 Premier and thought there is NO better. Just different. Tal Farlows are exceptional guitars that have a distinct sound that works great for me. So it's really a taste thing more than anything else.
