Good point, Jimmy. Where were you when I needed you?!

I know well the deep resistance to accept change in our instruments. It's neuroticism. But that doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
After you play the ES-275 for a while you won't even notice the Richlite. Sometimes you may appreciate the smoothness of it. In 20 years you may remark that there is no shrinkage and fret sprouting.
You have a fine instrument.

Having owned two of them . I can say that they are good value for money, the only
slight problem is the pinned bridge, but that can be resolved too. Congratulations on
your new acquisition, may it give you many years of pleasure.

ALL guitars should be "player's guitars."

As the proud owner of two hollow-body 275’s (a 2018 figured and a 2017 with P90’s) I can tell you they are great guitars.
As far as the Richlite, take a look at that fretboard. What percentage of the time are you playing on ‘wood’ and not mother of pearl? Can you bend better / smoother / faster at the 11th or 13th frets than you can at the 12th?
Love the MHS pickups (humbuckers and P90s).
Finally, I have .012 TI Jazz Swing flats on the figured and they sound great with the pinned ABR-1 bridge and titanium saddles.
Congratulations on the new guitar!Last edited by Betz; 05-30-2021 at 01:58 PM. Reason: Fix a typo

I should have included a recommendation for the Gibson CS 356 too
mine is a 2004 model, unplayed from new until I acquired it last year
it is like a doppelganger for the larger Gibson Es355 Custom ,& it is a
magnificent guitar , similar to Jon Hetherington's 336 ( Steely Dan)
But , more expensive than the ES275, there are used models around.

I really liked the 275 I tried

Beautiful guitar! Congrats!

They are awesome sounding (and looking) guitars. I owned the exact same model, but after two years I just could not get on with the narrow neck with rounded edges. Other than that, I loved it.

If I had the $$ and wasn’t happy with what I already have, I would jump all over a guitar like that in a heartbeat. I would be shocked if anyone said anything about richlite. And if I did, I would be the first to ignore the comments.

What’s the body depth on this? I’ve seen thin and thicker ones. Also, what’s the centerblock situation?
-
I believe that ones with trapeze tailpieces are fully hollow and the ones with a stop tailpiece have a center block.

The body on my 2017 hollow with P90s appears to be 2 1/8" at the rim.

Gorgeous guitar! If I could afford one (two kids just out of college, 2 still in) this is what I'd be playing. And yours is the best color, too
Play the frets off her!

That's a great looking guitar! Congratulations on the acquisition! Great story too! The most important thing is that you like to play it! I certainly hate to put obstacles in my path to playing guitar, and having something in your hands that feels right is very important. Enjoy!

I had a used Boxter and enjoyed it for a few months then fear of would it start or not set in.I got one of their magazines at the mechanic and it said in short order you will most likely know him by his first name you see him so much. And the dreaded 1100$ water pump change. One dealer wanted 125$ for a owners manual or a cup holder. I enjoyed two Miatas but the spare tire thing was kind of a flaw I think. My favorite sports car was my Nissan 370-Z it really had torque. These days I drive a Nissan Note hatch back and feel safer since you pretty much have to drive like the Senior Ive become. Your new Gibson and the logic you used are OUTSTANDING!!! Enjoy in Good Health the Most Valuable Possession There Is IMHO !!!
