I play an Ibanez AFJ85 through a Vox AC15C1. It's a great sound but I'd like to experiment a little and am thinking of getting one of the above reverbs.

I've read and watched the reviews but am still undecided as there are positives and negatives for both.

Which do you recommend and why.

    Edit. It's for fingerstyle guitar

    Thank you

The Quilter 101 is an amp head with reverb, not a reverb. Would you disconnect the speaker from the Vox and plug it into the Quilter? Should sound fine, but if you plug your guitar into the Quilter and then plug the output into the Vox input, you'll fry the Vox. If there's a line out on the Quilter, you might be able to plug that into the Vox effect return, bypassing the Vox preamp altogether.

The Lexicon is a processing unit with delay, reverb, etc. It's also obsolete and AFAIK out of production, but it's a great sound to my ears. I've wanted one for a while as several of my favorite players use it (such as Ben Monder). It seems to color the tone a lot.

Thre are also many other great reverb options out there. I have a TC Electronics Hall of Fame II that I really like, well enough that I stopped looking for an LXP-1. Strymon's Flint and Blue Sky pedals are well-regarded.

Thank you so much. I was thinking of plugging the Quilter into the Vox but I won't now.....

Yes I heard about the LXP indirectly through Ben Molder. I love the first half of Day After Day.

He is a very underrated player imo.

    Thanks again

I just grabbed a second hand Red Panda Context V1 for a reasonable price (less than $150) and I'm really happy with it. I had a couple of LXP-1 and still have one now but it has an almost unnoticable hiss noise. You won't realise it until you hear it but once you notice it you cannot stop hearing. I have to admit that I haven't had much time with the Context but it is easy to control and doesn't sound bad at all even compare to LXP-1

I have a Digitech RV-7 reverb pedal, which uses a Lexicon reverb chip and programming. It's sounds quite good. I don't think they make them anymore, but you can find them used.
