Guys, I just may have found the one jazz guitar to inspire me for the rest of my musical life. This is one amazing instrument! It fits me like a glove: with a 16” solid/carved body, 24.75” scale, 2 1/4” depth, and1.75” nut width it checks all the boxes for me. While I loved my L5CES, it was never comfortable for me to play. A couple of years ago I played a thin line Campellone Deluxe with a built in humbucker at Rudy’s and thought that was the most perfect instrument I have ever played. The situation was not right at the time for me to purchase it, but it had been in my head ever since. I’m glad I waited, because this one is it! I have never heard such a resonant electric archtop. It is loud and full when played acoustically. The notes just ring and ring. The fit, finish, and aesthetics of this instrument are just amazing. Everything I expected from an instrument from Bryant. This is as close as I’ll ever come to owning a D’Aquisto caliber instrument. the Lollar Imperial humbucker is powerful and has the clarity of a single coil. Perhaps it’s a low wind? This thing just sings! And, it’s beautiful! I couldn’t be happier.

Congratulations Mark! It’s a beautiful arch top and the color is phenomenal. Trenier builds arch tops as close to a D’Aquisto as I’ve ever seen. Enjoy that guitar!

It looks wonderful and to me Trenier has the nicest bend in the the cutaway of any guitar. To me how the cutaway is bent has a look to do with the looks and symmetry of the guitar. Gibson does it great with the L5 and Super 400 and Jimmy D'aquisto took it up a notch. Bryant has followed it just looks right and as you say sounds great. Enjoy.

Mark- congrats ! Everything you described is exactly what people usually experience when playing a Trenier. Bryants guitars have this organ like quality to the sustain that's unbelievable. There is good reason why my good friend, and master luthier John Monteleone, once stated during one of my visits , that he has not seen a better example of a builder nailing the D 'Aquisto vibe like Bryant. That comment was made based on all the builders who have brought John guitars to critique. John also made reference to that opinion at a Woodstock guitar show in the presence of Rudy Pensa.

I knew 7 years ago that Bryant was carrying on the tradition of Jimmy DAquisto .....it was like a reincarnation.

I've played numerous examples of D'Aquistos and Monteleones over my nearly 40 years of collecting to be able to arrive at that conclusion. And I've hung out in their shops and watched them both build these guitars.. No one constructs the instrument exactly like Jimmy D'Aquisto except for Bryant, which involves doing the finally carving of the outside plates after the body is closed , and purely by tapping and listening......no thickness measuring can be done at that point. It took Bryant years to learn and perfect this building method.

You made a smart purchase and I expect that it will continue to increase in value.

Beautiful guitar! The Lollar imperials are impressive pickups indeed. You might be surprised the high wind is great sounding in a jazz guitar. Enjoy that’s a great choice.

Haha! Thanks, Vinny. When I first took it out the the case, installed the bridge, and began to tune it up it literally took my breath away how resonant this guitar is. It is indeed a stunning guitar. I am very fortunate and certainly my playing is not worthy. But, I am enjoying it immensely. This past year I have been in the process of turning over my whole collection and only keeping or attaining guitars that are really special. This is #2 of the three that I will have of that caliber by mid summer. But, this will be my only archtop.

Just to echo in what I said in a couple of other threads, I'm really glad someone on this forum was able to snag the guitar. I honestly thought about it myself, but reality struck me as quickly as the thought did.

I wish you many happy years with your Trenier!

Congratulations, Mark! What a fabulous instrument. John Stewart had a Trenier Model E years ago that I almost bought. As you can imagine by my somewhat silly name on this forum I'm a big fan of Jimmy D'Aquisto's work. I agree with Steve and others here who feel Bryant is the builder who is most accurately and most passionately carrying on the torch. If I hadn't just gotten a Jazz Special from Bryant I would've taken a run at that guitar. I'm happy it's in very appreciative hands. Enjoy!

    ......Congratulations Mark !

I guess I can only repeat what everyone here has already said.

And maybe I can offer this -- that what you've got there is a piece of art that makes music. I believe each day you go to play it, you'll see this instrument in a different light, as though you'd missed that view. Each time, though maybe only a little differently, you'll see how all the components fit and complement each other.

Then you'll start to hear the music you'll make with it and then 'hear' the music you'll want to make with it. Then comes the magic !

Congrats again Mark ! May it inspire you for a long time.
