I'm looking to make my sound a little warmer so thought that I'd look into pick ups.

    Any recommendations?

    The AFJ85 is going into a Vox AC15 1.

    Thanks

I would say any pickup with Alnico II magnets.

I love the sound of the Vox AC15C1 with my Ibanez. I'm just looking at the pick ups as I've heard other people change the pick ups as soon as they get the guitar

    Maybe if it ain't broken.....

Thank you. The current pick ups are passive Alnico's.

I must find out the difference between those and the Alnico II's.

    Thank you

first off vox ac15s are known to be bright and edgy...try rollin off some treble and boosting bass...the type of speaker has a great deal of influence as well!

the pickups in there are alnico...(passive just means they don't need batteries, like active pickups do)

try lowering the entire pup a bit into the guitar body...fool with the actual pickup height...and then fine tune by slightly adjusting the polepieces

alnico II's are just less powerful than alnico V's at maximum gauss...but pickups magnets can be charged to less than maximum for similar effects...

    cheers

I had no difficulty getting a nice jazz tone from my AFJ85. Neatomic's advice is sound. Try lowering the pups a little at a time to sample a wider part of the string. Also try picking over the neck pup. Lowering the pups facilitates this.
