I sent a couple of messages this past week, no reply. Anyone know what's going on there? I hope things are ok.

Peter seems in good spirits on FB.

A Norwegian troubadour's 1st gen. Bud recently went mute after years of pro performances. Getting it to Colorado and back took some time thanks to Covid, but it returned in pristine condition. You can tell a quality electronic product by its repairability. I believe certain European resellers have been stocked again after a pause last year. Peter H. regularly posts on the Henriksen users' FB pages. All's probably well; let's wish them continued success.

Wouldn't it have been faster and cheaper to get it repaired locally? Since it'd been used for years, I'm assuming it wasn't within the warranty period (even if it were, it might be cheaper to get it fixed locally).

Beats me. I'm sure the owner did his homework before shipping it to the factory. There's max. a handful Henriksen dealers in Europe, and last year the mfgr announced they'd sell direct only. Who's motivated to read into the schemes and keep a spares inventory, if the outlook is that of the proverbial Maytag repairman? Some SS amps actually state "no serviceable parts inside", meaning if they are quality products, a specialist may be able to fix them - at what cost? - and if they aren't, nobody can. There's been some talk on unreliable, incurable preamps on these pages. My TC Hall of Fame died and I was told it can't be fixed. Usually, if a SS product fails, it fails within warranty. My H&K Spirit of Vintage is a case in point: it died tree days after the purchase and there was no talk about repairing it. Luckily, the vendor had another on the shelf.

How has that one done?

Me too! I don't know whether my 1st SS amp, a 50W Burns Orbital Stage One, actually a PA amp from 1966 or 1967, was handwired or not. The guy who bought it from me measured the output as 12W and said it's a lemon. Nevertheless, it was capable of blowing hefty 12" Fanes. Those were the days...

As I'm playing clean only, my to go amp is still the BAM200. I bought the Fender Tre-Verb stomp box following informed advice. To quote the great late thinker Jayne Mansfield: "Too much of a good thing is simply wonderful."
