This guitar came from old Gibson parts, probably the 1970s, maybe earlier. I think the body was assembled back then and it was in an old employees home for many years. It may have been left over when Gibson moved out of Kalamazoo. Anyway, a few years ago this guy brought the body into Pete Moreno to finish the guitar. I remember when it was being built. It's really gorgeous. I never knew what happened to it. But here it is.

Sorry, you do not have permission for that!

There is no sticker or serial number, and there shouldn't be. I have mixed feelings about this. But I have seen many a Gibson that was reconstructed from the firewood pile by Gibson employees over the years.

Drool-worthy! ES-175s come in so many delightful forms. It's one of their many endearing qualities.

I’d be curious to see if those P90 spacers are hiding humbucker routs and and screw holes.

Never understood why they had to screw up such fine instruments with that bridge pickup...

None the less, that is one fine looking guitar!

I bet you’re right. The front pickup on an old p90 guitar would not normally have a pickup ring under it. I bet it’s hiding something. I attached a photo of what an old one should look like.

I'm pretty sure it was routed for P-90s from the get-go. I know the guy who had Pete Moreno complete the guitar. I don't think he'd choose P-90s.

The guitar is on the heritageownersclub.com site. I have known the lister somewhat over the years. He's a good guy and lives in Ann Arbor, MI. I'll get his email.

Here is a description of the listing:

Hello again HOC friends. Here is a guitar I bought from Brent (Brentrocks) years ago and never really bonded with because the neck is thin for me. Here is what I know about this guitar: it looks and sounds great; and, I bought it from Brent. Here is what I believe I know about this guitar: it was assembled by Pete Moreno with Gibbons NOS guitar parts, but there's no real serial number or any "pedigree". I am asking $2,200. Trades I am willing to consider: Fender Jazz Bass, small tube amps, Martin D28 or similar type guitar.

I guess the front pickup was mounted in different way than they were in the 1950’s. It may have needed more height than an older guitar, perhaps due to a different neck angle, body shape, etc. In any case, it’s a cool guitar and the price is very reasonable.

The more I see it the more I like it. Lovely color--looks like amber shellac. And the gold appointments. And that neck...

I better leave before I make an impulsive financial move.

    Hello Mark,

I am doing well, thank you! I hope all is well with you and your family. Thanks for mentioning the guitar at the jazz forum; I haven't been there yet, but I can be contacted at [email protected]

I moved from Ann Arbor to Rockville-MD (DC metro) a few years ago. What's new with you?

    Thanks again. Take care.
