My guitar tech, David Crubly, convinced me to launch a Fender Signature Telecaster by telling me it might encourage more people to get into bands and music. I hope that’s true and know that those who do, won’t look back,” said Chrissie Hynde, London 2021"

don't know how many newbs are gonna afford the 1400$ cost...but a nice enough tele

to think ed bickert never got a fender sig tele when he was alive!

Ed wasn't as sexy as Chrissie Hynde. Just sayin'

I'm guessing it's aimed at the older crowd, doubt many young people know who she is.

Ed Bickert was unusually handsome for a jazz guitarist, and his Tele was road-worn.

On another note : when you go back to the older "Pretenders" stuff you might take notice of the guitarist, who replaced James Honeyman-Scott in the band, Robbie McIntosh. He is a MONSTER player , has several CD's out with great original stuff and while he is not a Jazzer his playing is of the highest level re musicianship, taste, sound and he's been on several tours with Paul McCartney, Norah Jones and John Mayer ..... just sayin', maybe some of you have never heard of him and might enjoy his music. I certainly do !

The 60s neck profile is very fine indeed but the 7.25 radius might not have broad appeal. And, yeah, $1.4k seems expensive for a Mexican guitar.

Give it 6 months and let us see if it doesn't end around the 1200 mark like the other road worn models.

Not particularly a fan of Troggly, but he is usually one of the first to review new models and it's interesting enough until he starts playing. Looks cool .. might need a touch up on the fret work

I hate the 7.25 radius, but there is a horde on TDPRI that absolutely love it .. so I'm sure there is a market for it.

    Love the metal pickguard!

My Nocaster is 7.25" and with that beefy neck it all works just fine for me. Not
so great for shredding... or so they tell me... but it is helpful for some of those
Ted Greene-like chord shapes. 9.5" is the perfect compromise, IMO.

I zipped through the Trogly review, thanks. Vintage tall frets - that's a plus in
my book. Again, that's what's on the '51 reissue Nocaster.

    Robbie is all that indeed.

She's earned it. A supremely talented singer/songwriter whose work we covered extensively back in the day, and whose songs got the people on their feet. For the which, we got paid.

A couple fun song from Pretenders II, "Louie Louie " (not THAT "Louie Louie") and "Pack It Up."

My wife now worries that I'll have to buy one because I "obviously" have a crush on Chrissie Hynde.

I told her I already have the Tele she gave me for Christmas last year and one's enough for me.

    She had no answer.

This round goes to the husband.

Next year use that leverage to get a Custom Shop Nocaster

9.5 is what my Squier Affinity Tele has. I like it. I don't know what a 7.25 would be like---not sure I've ever played such a neck.

As long as you don't bend a 7.25 is just fine ... if you do bend then it can be fine, but if not set up perfect it will annoy .. also you might have to have your top e string a bit higher than on a flatter neck.

But Fender have started to make a lot of reissues with 9.5" necks simply in order to cater to their customers .. I have a '66 reissue from the CS with one. Plenty of nocasters for sale with 9.5" necks too

The PRS John Mayer Silver Sky seems to be selling very well with a 7.25" radius, FWIW.
