I'm looking at getting a Trussart Steelcaster. Anybody comment on their jazz tone? I'm sure it's excellent, but I just want to hear real world experience.

Welcome to the Forum!
That's an unusual pick for a "jazz" guitar, but if you search around this Forum a bit, you'll find people play jazz on any- and everything! It would also help us if we knew a bit about you/your playing/your experience with jazz. If, for example, you're a new jazz guitarist wanting a "jazz" guitar, I would say "No Way!" on a $5000, unconventional instrument. On the other hand, if you're a seasoned jazz pro, have $5K, and want a "new thing," go for it.
I recommend you check with Scott at Zen Guitar Trading; he's a member here, a great guy, and he specializes in "different" guitars. I would guess he's had/played one.
Happy hunting!

With people blowing 2-5k on all sorts of shit regularly I really don't get why communities like this so often insist on gate keeping guitars purchases of guitars

I have never tried a Trussart, but always found them to be extremely cool looking and I am tempted when ever one shows up for sale on the used market
Just like you I'm certain that the jazz tone is excellent (as it usually is on telecasters)Last edited by Lobomov; 12-27-2020 at 11:41 AM.

Ha! Yeah, I hear ya -- philosophically/politically, I don't care what people buy! If you got the dough, buy whatever you want, and I guess if you don't have the dough, and want to get into debt, go for it, too. My choices may be different.

My hope is the OP actually makes it back here and participates on the Forum! There are many "newbie" posts -- typically on gear -- that are one and done, and the person never even responds.

We recently sold our home that we had a ton of equity in, bought our dream home and my wife said I could buy a guitar "to take to the grave" with what's left after the kitchen update. Whether she means a guitar to keep forever or one she'll use to put me in the grave is TBD.

Excellent -- enjoy your dream home and dream guitar, and your wife's a keeper, too!!
