If you don't like to look like anybody else on stage,
If you look for a guitar to suit your tuxedo,
If you like these japanese vintage specialties :
Firstman 激レア Firstman ファーストマン リバプール エレキギター Liverpool セミアコ ビンテージ(ビンテージ)【楽器検索デジマート】

As they mention that the neck is slightly wrapped, more suggestion are welcome !

    Thanks ThatRhythmMan !
I forgot to mention that maybe we can narrow the field of suggestion to hollow and semi-hollow bodies (as we are in a Jazz oriented forum)
And I Don't want to interfere with Christian's thread about pointy guits

LOL .. Yeah, if I decide to get a Daniel Slaman guitar, something like this should be my order. No fun in ordering a Gibson ES-150 copy, is it?

By the looks of the those pickups it may be something that Charlie Christian wouldn't have minded playing.

Those guitars remind me dangerously "The Pit and the Pendulum" by Edgar Allan Poe !

Didn't Eko Guitars make these in the 1960s? I vaguely remember as a young kid seeking these in some magazine.

I wonder if you set it down onto your leg to play sitting down, would it get stuck there permanently.

My dad was in the Air Force and assigned to Japan in the mid-60s. I was a young teenager then and that Firstman Liverpool '68 was my first electric guitar!

Japan had a robust rock-scene then and one of the biggest act was a group called Jackie Yoshikawa and his Blue Comets. They played Firstman Liverpools. The Blue Comets actually played the full-body depth version which are particularly rare now. You mostly see the thin-bodies. They had an enormous hit in Japan called "Blue Chateau" and even played it on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1968. (The Ventures also recorded it.)

These guitars are not the same as the similar looking models put out by Eko guitars. The Firstman had more exaggerated bouts and was a better built guitar (in my opinion). I also suspect that the pickups on the one in the picture may not be original. I don't remember it having "blade" pickups but I could be wrong there...

And yes Woody Sound, they would grab your thigh when you were sitting down.

(See attached video: I don't know which is funnier -- Ed Sullivan trying to speak some Japanese in the intro or the Blue Comets trying to sing the first two thirds of the song in English.)
