Hi, I was rehearsing with a Jazz band last night and all of a sudden I couldn’t hear myself. We play at a reasonable level because we are used to playing Jazz brunches. At first I thought it was the band had turned up. But after a couple of tunes the drummer remarked that he couldn’t hear me halfway through a number. I use a Quilter Micro-pro 200 8” and last night was using an Ibanez AM 93 directly into the amp because my Sadowsky Jimmy Bruno is in the shop having fret work done on it. At first I’m thinking amp problem. But it’s solid state so now I’m leaning guitar. Anyone have any ideas which is to blame I’d appreciate it.
Thanks

Might it be the acoustic?

Cables would be the first I'd check.....

Yeah I’ll check out the cable but it wasn’t like it just dropped out completely or made noise. Checked on quilter site and they say its rare for it to be the amp. Will also check 1/4 in jacks on guitar and amp. Thanks guys.

You had a rehearsal?! Kick-ass!!!
[and when you get your other guitar back, you can check that, too]

Usually, the culprit is a part which is subject to mechanical forces. So, it's cables, jacks, pots and other connectors, if any. Usually they make noise or die, rather than reducing volume, but those are the first things to check. Swap in good cables. Wiggle all the wires/connectors and rotate the pots, listening all the time for any indication of a problematic response. If that's a hollowbody, you might be able to gently reach thru an f hole with your finger and move the wires, just slightly, in case something is lightly touching something it shouldn't touch.

I have had leads going bad doing just that: lowering the volume! Or sometimes just muffling the signal. You’d expect the signal to drop out completely, but oddly enough it’s possible! Usually it’s the ground connection coming loose in the plug or just holding up with only one or two threads.
I periodically check my cables and have resoldered the plugs many times. I also have replaced many plugs.
Recommandations for Hollowbodies for $600 and under?
