    Hi,
im looking at trying to fit a midi pickup to my archtop which is 3" deep. I know they come with a bracket to fit a les Paul but from memory the bracket isn't big enough to fit a 3inch deep body.
what are my options, I know some jazzers use one on a deep body. I don't want to stick anything to the top like Velcro in case it takes off the lacquer. I know there is a kit where you wire the sensor to a midi input socket and have to fit the socket to the guitar but I don't want to drill any holes.
any advice would be much appreciated, cheers

Calls for a Rube Goldberg solution: get one of those 1" large suction cups with an M4- or M6- thread bolt with a nut. The black right-angle bracket for the Roland GK3 has a notch in it for the bolt. Cut a square of Grafix Dura-lar sheet, slap it on the rim of your archtop, mount the suction cup and right-angle bracket on it. Mount GK3 controller box on the bracket. You are safe to go.

Find a spot on the rim where the bracket with controller won't drop off easily. Use some ingenuity.

NB I see that there is a bottom right-angle bracket for stability on the Les Paul. Use another suction cup with M4 bolt, mount it below the top bracket's screw, run a rubberband or twine between the bracket screw and bottom suction cup bolt. That should stabilise the bracket nicely.

The top bracket may stand proud of the rim. Shim with cork sheet or felt pad

You could also use four suction cups with M4 bolt and nut to make a quadrangle anywhere on the top, slap a Dura-lar sheet on the top of the guitar beforehand, place the GK3 controller in the space in middle of the quadrangle, stretch rubber bands from M4 bolt to bolt to hold the controller down.

Remove Dura-lar, suction cups after each use to prevent permanent marks on the nitrocellulose top.

What the heck? Just use twine or rubberbands to tie the controller to the tailpiece.
