I went for a classic Joe Pass vibe on my 175 and Polytone. The head is played in Joe Pass style (as played on his famous "Joy Spring" album. PMB has transcribed the head as Joe played it years ago).

It's a pretty hard tune to play like this. If you want to study it click here for PMB's transcription.

Great tone and playing as usual. Sweet Dick !

A similar thunk going on there, DB. Excellent playing. You look more relaxed soloing than playing the head, which does indeed look awkward on the guitar.

    A very enjoyable 3 minutes!

Did anyone else hear the thunk from that guitar? That’s all the guitar anyone needs right there!

    DB,
Great stuff. And thanks for making it absolutely clear what the meaning of thunk is. Now I know, without question what thunk sounds like. And I don’t think I can make the thunk sound with my hands even if I was using a “thunk Synthesizer” (or a 175 for that matter).

Thanks Rob. Joe plays the head in the lower register with many fast pull offs which makes the head pretty difficult to play. Especially the pull offs with the pinky and ring finger require some practice. It's not a head you play just like that.

Glad you noticed it. Yes, the 175 is thunking hard. That's why I posted it in the gear section. It seems the Polytone brings out the thunk even more than my other amps.

Nice one, Dick. As Descartes might have said, "You thunk therefore you were"!

I've been enjoying my Fender amps so much recently I need to fire up the Polytone and the ES175 and thunk out. Or have I over-thunk that?

Mmmmm .... dunno Lawson. If you thunk carefully about it, overthunking is never a problem really.

A 175 and a Poly. What more do you need anyway for that bop thunk?
