Carlo Robelli ES- 5 Copy ?-00606_8fjvrnepk1m_0cy0t2_1200x900-jpg Supposedly made in Korea by Peerless, looks to be maple laminate....
I have no experience with this brand but I do like the 3 P-90 set up [ I used to own a 1949 ES-5].
Anybody try any of these out??
    Thanx!

Not this brand but one under dot on shaft/carparealy . Amazing sounding guitar and a great neck . As my friend said “ it’s the closest thing to a 65 jazz master besides a 65 jazz master” and I know I liked the neck

carlo robelli was the sam ash house brand...they were a budget line for the most part

    plywood strats etc

later they evolved a bit, but always took some $hortcut$

b 70 screw in top bigsby ^ was not best choice for floating bridge pickup...also alerts that that guitar is not full hollow...as there's a block under where bigsby top screw mounts...hopefully!

    cheers

Hhmmm... hadn't even considered the Bigsby. I'd probably remove it anyway. The block wouldn't bother me anyway....actually, on some archtops I put bridge posts in. Sam Ash huh? Interesting! I'm really just interested in the overall quality of the neck & body. I've had lots of maple laminate archtops and they seemed to work well in band formats.
    Thanx!

in late 1990's-early 2000's the biggest american guitar companies were havin their asian made lines built in korea...so you had gibson epi and fmic dearmond lines...with some nice guitars made (for the money) in sk!!!....but as they changed factories or even moved manufacture to other countries, (i.e. china, indonesia, india)...the korean factories had the know how to keep creating some nice guitars based on what they had been building for the bigger brand names....

so you had a bevy of watered down cheapened versions of epi's and dearmonds etc etc...carlo robelli was one of these..some squiers....but even the samick and peerless brands emerged from the fact that they were once hired by gibby for epi builds....they learned the way and used it

    cheers

Yup, I always enjoyed sifting around through the many Peerless, Samick, Cort, etc etc stuff until I would find some really good-quality "Gibson-ish" guitars that hadn't become well known. Some of the Korean guitars are / were quite good [I use a couple]. Of course, every guitar sounds different than 50 others that were made the same day in the same factory but that is not a quality that is peculiar to the lower-end brands. I've played some Custom Shop stuff that I wouldn't buy at any price.

I don't know what your budget is, but if it's because of the three P-90 set up, this could be an good alternative:

What is the name on the headstock? I can't make it out...

My budget is low! I was also thinking of getting a Korean Epiphone Casino and adding a middle pickup.

    How about this
Epiphone Riviera Custom P-93 - Wine Red - Long & McQuade Musical Instruments

I’m sure you could find one on reverb for a good price

Yup, I've been checking those out. I prefer to not use Reverb [lots of "dealers" trying hard to keep the prices up] but have been keeping my eyes peeled locally. I refuse to pay inflated prices for Korean and [especially] Chinese stuff. Some of those are real heavy, too, so I stay clear of them. I've been thinking of finding a Korean Casino and installing a middle pickup on it.

I had one of those Robelli ES-5 types. It did not satisfy. Not sure where it was made. A rather heavy, dead sounding body. (No doubt that B7 bigsby did not help there ...) Awful pickups. Not up to the quality I encountered in later examples of Peerless factory output.

I can understand. I wait for huge discounts on reverb like my guild originally $2500cad on for $1000 . It was $1170 cad with taxes and shipping.

Thanx for the info! I had an original '49 ES-5 and it was not light, either. The top on mine was a pretty thick piece of maple [obvious that Gibson did not want that top to vibrate!]

"Kingsnake". It's a japanese brand. They're made at the Terada Music Intruments Co. Mother web says that the brand is part of the Taurus Corporation(¿?) along with Collings, Waterloo, RS Guitarworks, Yamaoka, Eastman, Van Zandt, Black Cult, etc.(again, ¿?)
The guitar is a Kingsnake Three Bone, 17" body width, 3,35" body depth, 12"fingerboard radius, 25,5" neck scale. $2.500 + taxes.

¡Don't blame me, it's the internet!
