One interesting story has come out of this sale ... TV Jones, who's been working on Setzer's guitars for several decades pulled the trigger on the Gretsch with the leopard print finish. The coolest part is that he was involved in creating that finish on that guitar in the first place. I think that's pretty cool.

Upstate is the preferred term in SC, not a “yankee expression”. SC regionally is divided into the Upstate, Midlands, and Low Country.

Out of habit I blame the Yankees for everything I don't understand about the South. Ironic since I've been living in Yankee-land for most of my adult life.

And was only 65. No need for a jazzer to retire at that age if in decent health.

Maybe he's just at an age where he wants to thin the herd and let a few younger folks have a crack at his guitars? And maybe buy more hotrods?
BTW I saw his Christmas show a couple of years ago and it was excellent as said...but...the horns were amped extremely loud. I myself got some tinnitus from that concert. The irony is that his guitar was actually mixed JUST RIGHT.

I'd like to listen in on some of the initial meetings with their tax guys:
" Wha'd'ya mean I don't get all the money when I sell this stuff ? "......." I mean I got most of it free - - "
" Well, you see, the IRS will treat these sales as ' income' or ' taxable events', etc etc
Have you met your Uncle ?? : )

I think I missed my calling to be an accountant to the stars of screen and stage and professional athletes. Has there ever been a class of people with so much money so early in their careers, and so little idea how to manage it?
