Some of you know I was on a quest for a 2 humbucker guitar...yeah...that didn't happen. Instead, I remembered I had a great tele neck in my basement, from a '69 Thinline (a mid 00's MIM reissue)

I found a really good deal on a slightly used CV 60's Squier tele, one thing led to another, and this was born.

And now I have a Squier neck hanging around. It's not bad, just too skinny for me, but the fretwork is great. I'll probably buy a body for it someday and let it be for my kids.

In the meantime, my new rock and roll/blues/country machine:

I need areal nice Tele. I have a friend novice luthier who built me a copy, but it’s not up to snuff. That looks wonderful. I’m’a break down an’ buy me one.

Hey, Jeff, me too! Still being tweaked a bit. Still needs a proper pickguard, but now with all six strings and an F-spaced bridge pickup, oh, joy.
Unlike you, I did not fail in my humbucking mission.

Beautiful. I keep thinking I'd like to put together a partscaster, but I'm not sure I could put something together that played as well and sounded as good as say, a Nash.

On the other hand, you always sound great on a tele. Enjoy it.

    Thanks all,

I think it's going to get a green guard and some compensated brass saddles at some point too. But right now it's fun as is.

It's weird, I haven't had a guitar with a maple neck in almost 9 years. Didn't realize I missed it.

Jeff, the CV 60's Squier Tele Custom models have a humbucking route under the pickguard. Why not install a humbucker, and get a pickguard to match?

    Oooh...a possibility, for sure.

I dunno, I love tele neck pickups though...if anything I'd be looking for some hot rails for that bridge, should the dad rock band ever come to fruition.

But that is extremely cool info.

Very cool! Love the maple fret board. The bass player in my old blues band also had a CV60's telecaster but it was modded with an HB in the neck. I used it quite often as a backup at shows or for when we were recording demos. I myself also had a CV50's tele at the time.

Don't forget to throw the Danelectro in the video as well.

Also you turned made in Mexico and China Tele parts into technically a made in USA Tele. Now it's worth double the price of the originals

Mexican and Indonesian actually, this body is from one of the newer ones.

Supposedly folks don't like them as much, but the pickups sound great to me, not too noisy, and the NATO body (cheap mahogany sub?) has some cross grain that looks great.

It is a little on the heavy side, I haven't weighed it yet, but my guess is it's in the 7.5-8lb range (my other ash tele is just under 7lbs) Not really a big deal to me.

Heres the slight flame, tried to get a picture.

alnico mag pickups...tho most likely a thin veneer/photo figuring top over the nato body..very common these days...even prs does it
