I use the wedge without any plexiglass (with my Bud6 and Blu6) and have had excellent results in various venues.

I do not use the wedge with my Blu10, my Fender Princeton or either of my Raezer's Edge cabinets. With those form factors, i can hear myself just fine. But the small Henriksens need tilting back so I can hear myself properly and the bottom Port on those amps needs something under it (I have had bad results, as in severely diminished bass response, placing the small Henrikesens on a slatted chair.)
