There are indeed a lot of very fine "mainstream" (?) jazz guitarists coming out of Japan. And a lot of non-Japanese jazz guitarists like being in japan. Joe Pass loved Japan, and Joshua Breakstone lives there about half the time, so much that he actually bought another Norlin-era L5ces that just "lives" in Japan so he doesn't have to travel with his.

It would be great to have a list of these extremely talented Japanese jazz guitarists. they are keeping the flame burning.
