I need the gold screw that fits a gibson finger style tailpiece used on Legrands, early 80s Johnny Smith. I have one that is bent and needs replacement. Anybody have one they want to part with or direct me where I can find one? I contacted Gibson as well as the standard vendors (Allparts, etc) but to no avail. Figure that somebody might have one rolling around a parts box.

Tried to post the pic of it, but without any luck.

Thanks, George for the pic. Yep, that's it and those are the golden screws. There's a possibility that my bent screw could be gently straightened, but thought I would reach out first to see if anyone had one.

ps- if its from an 80's gibby it will be imperial size...not metric like some modern epi tailpieces might use

if you have an old lighting and lamp repair shop in your area, you might check with them...knurled thumbscrews are commonly used in that industry....

also you could measure threads and sizes at hardware store...so at least you have actual dimensions of what you need...

then the search begins!!! but online shopping makes it so much easier!! ha

    luck

    cheers

Thanks so much! Already started what you suggested. Who knew about knurled thumbscrews! That's why I love this forum, so much useful info from folks with collectively centuries of experience. Guess its too late to have Santa bring me some. Best holliday wishes to all.

I have a gold finger tailpiece and a gold Floyd Rose, but I think these Floyd Rose thumbscrews are close but not exact.

Fred, usually it's not so difficult to straighten screws. Just don't work the screw directly with a tool. Screw on a few nuts, move some of them to one side of the bend which you fix in a vise and grab the others which you left at the other side of the bend with pliers to straighten the screw.

Sorry about my bad english, i hope it still makes sense.

Thank you. If I can't find one, this may be the best option. I completely understood your directions on how to straighten the screw. Many thanks for your advice.

Someone else here had the exact same need a few years ago. I can't remember who, but I *think* they found a solution. Maybe try searching here for finger tailpiece, thumbscrew, thumbwheel, etc. Or hopefully they'll see this thread.
