I'm considering getting a BlockDock 10tc to pair with my 101 reverb and would be interested in the perspective of any owners who use this combo. I am very happy with the sound I get out of the 101. I'm currently playing in a trio that plays R&B, smooth jazz and some standards - clean tones all the way. I'm currently using a Raezers Edge Stealth ER 10 - great cabinet. The Blockdock would mean carrying one combo amp versus amp plus cab and would shave about 13 pounds off in weight. That all sounds like a move in the right direction if the BD 10 sounds great. I read Jack Zuckers excellent review on the BD 12" and wonder if any users are feeling the same love for the BD10.

I have had the 101R with the Blockdock 10 since the Blockdock 10 came out. I play both a Sadowsky Jimmy Bruno and a Telecaster and the amp sounds great for both. Not sure about other speakers as I bought the two together and have been happy enough that I have never felt like trying another speaker/enclosure combination.

Thanks SoccerPoodle. I appreciate hearing your experience. I'm a little surprised that more 101 owners have not jumped on this combo as it seems like a fantastic grab and go option. I guess we all have too many amps and cabinets and can't chase every new thing that comes along.

You are welcome. It is a great grab and go. I am happy with the purchase and have no plans to look any further. I have used mine primarily in a local jazz jam that I attend a couple times a month.
I hope you find what you are looking for.

While I`m sure the Quilter 101 is fine for smaller gigs,I found it underpowered for my needs. I found that the Quilter Aviator 1x8" combo a better alternative.
Also another consideration is using a boost pedal in front or in the effects loop, which really helps fill out the tone as well
I use either a T.C.Jauernig Luxury Drive pedal set to minimum or an Xotic Sweet Boost set a bit higher.

I totally agree with the use of a boost pedal. I use a Wampler Tumnus in front of the 101 with the gain set very low. The resulting tones are clean but have a much fuller quality to them.

I'm also surprised more have not responded to OP. I also use Quilter 101R with Raezer's Edge Stealth 10. I've also considered the BlockDock; but I love the tone so much with the RE, I haven't been able to bring myself to mess with it.

I don’t like the sound of the Neo speakers Quilter uses. Too shrill at the top end and too boomy in the low end for me. Or maybe it’s the closed back design. Either way, I’ve tried the 12” and the dual 8” showman cabinets and didn’t like them at all.

I went with the ToneBlock 202 and the BDock 12. I love it. (I don't like boomy or shrill BTW)

There is not many Block Docks around here in Northern Europe so I made it myself!
Changed the 101 to TB202 in August and the shrill and boominess are gone. Absolutely great amp!
I made a DIY ”Block Dock” 12 too:

Nice work Herbie! I put kick-backs on my BlockDock 12, only they're the black ones that Quilter sells. Very convenient.
I agree that the 202 is a great amp. I was on Avi 8 before, and for what I'm doing the 202 in the BD12 so much better. The Avi 8 is now with my brother.
