Just thought I'd do an update. Left to right: Hagstrom HL-550, Eastman 503CE with Creamery CC pickup, Eastman DM1.

That's me covered for quite a while, I imagine. Not high-end stuff, but I love how they sound and play. Of the three, the central one gets most attention. The carved top gives a nice warm tone for unplugged playing, and when plugged in, the CC pickup gives me a fantastic thunk!

I've just compared them, and they have a very similar outline, size-wise, but the Hag has another half inch in depth. The Hag is fully hollow, but it has a sort of sound post under the bridge. Unlike a violin or cello sound post it is a rectangle, hollowed-out in the middle, running parallel to the length of the bridge, and about half an inch wide.

The Hag has no acoustic sound to speak of, it's basically an electric guitar, but the mahogany body and air contribute greatly to its electric sound. By contrast, the Eastman has a very nice, if fairly quiet, acoustic sound.

Hi Woody. Very different. The 500 has two humbucker pickups and a Canadian Maple body, while the 550 has a single floater and a mahogany body.

Top of the range is the 800 with a solid spruce top and upgraded pickups.

Now I'm really confused. Which is which? Is yours with the floater a different 500 model, or was that just a typo? I like that 16th fret joint on the 800.
