    Hi Folks,

I just just purchased a 2001 Heritage Eagle Classic from Cream City Music. I know that Heritage changed humbuckers over the years with the Eagle Classic, but I can't find a timeline on the changes. From the pictures (below) I think we can determine that the pickups aren't HRW's since there are no markings designating them as such.

    The specs I have on the PU's: Bridge - 8.12K ohms / Neck - 7.61 ohms.

Could these be the Schaller Golden 50s carried over from the 1990's? Tell me what you think. Thanks! - Ken

And sorry for this being my first post. I've been visiting the board for awhile and I usually find my answers using the Search feature!

Congratulations on that lovely Heritage! I can't answer your question, but someone here soon will. There is a lot of Heritage expertise in this place.

(I've got a 575 with Seymour Duncan Seth Lovers, and a 535 with I-don't-know-what--but they sound great!)

No need to apologize for that first post, LandandSky! Welcome to the forum!

I doubt those are Schaller pickups. They have double screw adjustments on each side of the pickup. Check out pics of older Heritage guitars for examples.
These are probably Seymour Duncans 1959 or more likely Seth Lovers.
Which were offered as standard on certain models like Roy Clark etc.

One more possibility were Rendell Wall HRW Pickups. These were made by a Heritage employee. Google them for more info. Very nice pickups as are the Seth Lovers.

My 2001 Heritage has Schallers. They indeed have double adjustment screws.

They have the typical short 'legs' of Asian production pickups. Could be anything. Could be also just the bottom plate, since the covers seem to have been unsoldered. Maybe someone made them gold by changing the covers, botom plates and screwes? Most Asian pickups don't have braided wire.

I doubt they are SD 59s or Seth Lovers, those have long 'legs' à la Gibson pickups.

Asian doesn't mean bad, just makes it more difficult to identify. Maybe StewMac Golden Age or Parson Street Humbuckers?

Thanks for all your insights, guys.

This is going to be interesting to sort out.

To the best of my knowledge Heritage wasn't using "asian made" pickups in archtops. Ask Dr. Mark, for it's likely he'll know what your pickups are. He's owned more Heritage archtops than anyone on this forum. Mark's user name is Marty Grass. You can PM him. Congratulations on your Eagle!

Welcome to the JGF, Ken. That's a very nice looking Eagle you've got there.

Schallers and HRW's both have double screws for adjustment, so both are ruled out for your pickups.

Sorry, I can't help you identify the pickups, but what is most important is how do YOU like their sound.

    Play it in good health.

Not Schallers and they don't have the markings of Seymour Duncan.

The good news is that someone cared enough to take out the Schallers and put in the current ones. I don't think anyone would go through the trouble just to keep the Schallers since their resale value isn't worth all of the trouble of pulling the harness and reinstalling it. So the current pickups might be special. Also, those pickups have been opened up. You can tell because the solder is violated and the pickup covers are splayed. My guess is that someone played with the magnets to improve the sound.

    Enjoy!

I used to have a Heritage 555 with Schallers and they looked like this:

Yeah, 2Born. If there was such a thing as a guitporn-o-meter, mine would be howling right about now. Just amazing, beautiful photos! Thank you!

Welcome to the forum and congrats on that beautiful Heritage.

How does she sound with the "mystery" pickups? That's probably a dumb question if that Heritage sounds half as good as it looks.
