I'm trying to train my ear to the sound of a P90 in a jazz guitar. I have some in a semi-hollow Tele project guitar I put together; but all my other guitars (335, 175, Ibanez George Benson) have PAFs. Of course, there's the iconic sound of Grant Green's ES-330 with P90s. What other great jazz recordings are out there where I can hear P90s in a hollowbody or semi-hollowbody? Thanks much.

There are a lot of great jazz players. I like a lot Martin van Iterson with his ES-125:

there are also a lot of guitar reviews with P-90 to check, i.e.:

just open youtube and enter P-90

Thanks, I saw some of those demos. I'm looking more for some of the classic recordings and jazz masters who used P90s on their jazz boxes.

Pretty sure Jim Hall used a P90-equipped ES175 on Rollins' "The Bridge" album.

you can pick just about any jazz guitar lp from the early to late 50s and hear it, save for the occasional Christian or DeArmond.

You're so right. There's all of those great shots of Hall in the 50s playing a 175 with P90s. (I love the shot of him still with hair playing a Les Paul Black Beauty!).

On much of this playlist Herb Ellis still has the P90 in his ES-175.

Also, the Oscar Peterson trio was the backing band it most of the Ella and Louis recordings which means lots of Herb Ellis on his 175 while it still had the P90.

That's fantastic, guys. Thanks very much. I might have an opportunity to get a 50's-era 175 with P90s. I've been such a PAF guy for so many years, that it's made me have to stop and do a little research. I LOVE Jim Hall's and Herb Ellis's tone from that period! Thanks again.

I think Kenny Burrell used an ES 175 with P90s early on – at least he is shown with one on the cover of Blue Moods.

For a slightly more modern (or at least recent) take on the 330, you can look up Pierre Perchaud

That's really nice! I had not heard of him before. Very Frisell- and Lage-like with the use of delay and reverb, but on a Gibson rather than a Tele. Thanks for sharing.

Last time I saw him with Anne Paceo (6 weeks ago or so) he played a kind of Tele, with the same sound.
But he continuously tweaked his pedalboard and that was disturbing
