Never heard of Zager strings until your post.I'm assuming these strings are like Santa Cruz and Optima low tension strings.I've tried those strings and while they feel good to my aging fingers, the tone is kind of dull.

Alternate between Labella black tapes and Labella steel flats on my 16 175 vos. Both with a 14 and 18. Tapes give a pleasant acoustic unplugged tone, and a super dark Martino like electrified sound when dialed in right. I'll change to steel flats when I'm feeling thunky. Just depends who I'm engrossed with and listening to. Fwiw seems to me the tapes are super picky about picks. Pointy Dunlop jazz tones sound great.

I use Thomastik JS112 or D'addario Chrome 11. Chromes are bit smoother, but the Thomastik's gauge distribution makes more sense to me. I think they both sound great.

    Edit:

On my archtop dedicated to jazz I play flatwounds because of the mellower tone that I like for jazz (TI .012 Swings), but rounds on all of my other guitars.

I cannot for the life of me hear flatwounds as mellower. Duller isn't mellower in my ears...

I use round-wound, round-core silk-and-steel strings for a mellower and richer sound (richer because just a bit more like nylon bass strings, which IMHO can't be beat in the richness/versatility department).

TI Swing Flats 11s on my Tele.

D'Addario 80/20 11s on my flat top acoustics.

I use TI flatwound .012s on my Heritage H-575 and TI flatwound .011s on my D'Angelico Deluxe SS. I love the sound and feel of these strings and they last forever.

I recently switched from nickel rounds to white bronze. I like the extra little acoustic "zing."

I use Thomastik-Infeld Jazz Swing .13 flats on my Epiphone Emperor Regent. On my other jazz guitars, both hollow and semi-hollow, I use D'Addario .13 flats, not necessarily because I prefer them but because it would be very expensive to string all of my instruments with the Thomastiks.

I do feel that the Thomastiks complement the sound of a floating pickup very well, giving a somewhat brighter, woodier tone. Conversely, the D'Addarios seem to pair well with traditional PAF-style routed humbuckers on my other instruments, but I would be interested to try some Thomastiks on them as well.

Even if that were the question I think everyone is acutely aware of the fact

Seems d'A don't have a resonator guitar visual for their packaging.

And they could market almost the same set to the acoustic archtop community

My newly acquired Samick HJ-650 electric archtop is currently setup with what look and feel like D'Addario Jazz round wound light .012's with a wound 3rd string. They are fine for now but I intend to change them to the D'Addario Jazz Extra Light gauge strings .010's with a wound 3rd. I am not a fan of flat wound strings. My Epiphone Les Paul is set up for rock with Ernie Ball Super Slinky's and my old Morris acoustic has Martin light gauge 80/20 bronze strings on it.

If I ever settle on one string set I'll let you know. It's been different almost every string change for a long time. The search for the perfect string for each guitar seems endless.

Indeed, esp. for those pesky steel trebles

My main guitars are nylon-stringers, and the closest-to-perfect string set on both is made up from 3 different off-the-shelf sets
I've tried once to bring that down to 1 by ordering custom-made strings but I got an unexpected perfect low-D 6th string; the others give a high enough tension that even my archtop is audible with them (but their intonation is hopeless). Bummer...
