Hello all.
This past week I bought this amp, sight unseen. I´ve found few information on the net about this amp, so writing about it here looks like a good idea.
It is in near mint condition, with original speakers. The 12" looks in very good shape. There are two six speakers in the sides which give the amp a very surrounding sound. After reading many times about not so good polytone reverb I was surprised by this one. It´s usable until four on the dial. Althoug with this amp I don´´t find the need for reverb by any means. The same happened with my non-reverb MBIII. Basically they sound the same.
This one has a bigger box, and the strange speaker arrangement, but the basic sound is the same. If the MBlll weights 15kilos this one must be 20 or so, so not so portable but doable.
I finally have had the oportunity to listen to the Polytone distortion and while it´s no Marshall it´s not that terrible in my opinion.I could use a tiny bit.
It has a modulator effect I can´t find a use for, but there it is.
One channel is like my MBIII: volume, treble bass and mid concentric pot.
The other has distortion too. The channels can be bridged, which sounds interesting but I still havent found a real advantage to it. There is an effects loop too.In the back there is also a switch to choose between keyboard and guitar.
Searching for speaker outputs I found what to me is a strange thing in a guitar amp: BIAMP and the options treble and bass. Now I don´t know if this thing has two power amps (Which would justify its volume), if i should connect extension speakers or amps to it, which ohms etc. I´m puzzled. Not that I´ll need more volume out of it in the near future. I´ve searched for a user manual in the net to no avail.
Finally it comes with a rare retro pedalboard with lots of option and with an Edge button which looks like a 6db boost that I cant find as an option in the pannel.
Many bells and wisttles, and I´m just in the first learning stage. But thegood thing is that the amp still can be used as a simple minibrute. And the sound is there...

No, keep it, old Polytones info is always useful. I have an old one, which has some of those bells and whistles but has the classic poly sound in there. Love it.

No Jorge. The thread. I´ve posted it twice

Ah, didn't notice it! It has happened to me, some mod will do it soon.

sorry for the quality of the pics.

I had one just like it and wish I'd have kept it - a neat and versatile amp for all your clean sounds, the fx-loop works just fine, it's PLENTY loud and still portable .... it will hold up for the next 30 years easily ! Keep it and make some beautiful noise with it !

Funny, there's one for sale locally and while not cheap I'm tempted to get it in case my 102 goes belly up.

I bought mine cheaper than what a minibrute goes for in Europe. If you can pay a price you are confortable with, I say buy it.

Yeah, this one is more buckazoids than a MB, but I prefer the 2 channel Polytone models so I'm willing (but not comfortable) to pay a bit more.
