Super-small jazz cabs would be the Henriksen "Ray" (4x3 speakers) or "Bud" extension (1x6) if you can find one, or other 1x8 cabs (Raezer's Edge, Buscarino).

Nowadays you can get anything your heart desires on Reverb or eBay. Even if the custom cab builders don't have what you want on the site, if you contact them they'll usually bend over backwards to accommodate you.

I've got a ported 6" speaker cab built by Earcandy that sounds relatively big for its size. I wouldn't use it for a gig with a drummer, but it will do for solo or duos without any trouble.

Try the GSS Jazzcat. Pasquale Grasso uses one sometimes, and sounds good on it. It's a combo amp, but it's the smallest I've seen. There is one for sale on the forum, but I think it's in Europe. It's under $300 new. Or you can get just the cabinet for 79 euros (whatever the equivalent in US dollars is).

I put a Celestion TF0818 in the Randall RG8 cab and it works wonderfully with a Quilter 101. The Celestion is what they were putting in the Aviator at the time, if I recall correctly

I ripped the Randall logo off first.

The grand total was something like 120 bucks.

Yes it was a super easy fit. No problems at all.

Here's a picture of the finished product.

I tried a few different speakers with the Quilter 45 and pro block 200w. I found the speaker size to really be felt in the bass response / which sort of translated to the overall feeling of volume. I should mention I was using all open back home built boxes, so no porting. I did play the combo version of the ZT lunchbox once and remember not being blown away by the bass response (it did get loud though).

I was thinking to get me a Peavey Piranha 1x8 cab and replace the speaker with a better one. The cab is ~ 80€ at Thomann (Peavey 6505 Piranha 1x8 Cabinet – Thomann UK)

I was thinking to put in an Eminence Beta-8A speaker. Cost ~ 70€
    (Eminence Beta-8A – Thomann UK)

So total would be some 150€

Didn't have the time yet, so it's on my to-do list...

I can't stress enough how much I'd like to keep costs down low, like $200 and under low. Basically I just need something that is small and will make loud enough sound, use the quilter tone knob and my guitar knob, and let my playing take the rest from there.

The ear candy and the ZT cab seem to be the top contenders. I was considering getting a Fender Frontman 10G, remove the back panel and stick an Eminence Alpha 6A in it, but apparently that speaker is designed for ported and sealed speaker cabinets. That opens up a whole new set of issues not the mention the poor quality of wood of the fender cabinet would likely lead to rattling. Even with a designed cabinet like the RG8 and replacing the stock speaker with an Eminence 6A, I'm not even sure if the speaker would fit in such a tight enclosure.
