I almost bought a 53 L7 with a cutaway and a McCarty in a home made pickguard. It was $5500 cdn which at the time was more than I could swing and perhaps over priced but they are rare in Canada. Regrets.

It’s a true shame folks here don’t get to hear it for the tone is beyond words. You should bring it by so I can record it.

Greetings from a vintage L7 sibling. I finally stuck my reissue DeArmond on there with some instrument putty. It's holding for now, but is probably a temporary solution. I tried a couple of neck-rod-attachments, but the angle was wrong and I kept snapping them in two. The putty admittedly takes some of the "float" out of the floater, but I'm OK with it. It's definitely been played through the decades. Carries some battle scars but sounds great. I use to think it was a 1944, but I now think the serial number pegs it a few years later, maybe '47 or '48. I can't quite figure that out.
