    Just bought one of these...

It is sitting in my easy chair thawing out after a long day in a frigid UPS truck. It sure looked like a great deal at $699, but I'll be darned if I can find any info beyond MF's product page and a couple of NAMM videos from 2016.

Does anyone have any info on this model that was limited to just a 25 piece run? I would love to hear some opinions from others who may have one -

Wow. Kind of amazing that 35 people have viewed this post and no one has left a comment. Tends to bear out my assumption that it's hardly known.

But anyway...it was all thawed out this morning so I checked it out. Neck needed tightening and high strings were buzzing at tenth fret and up. Fixed those things. Round wound strings felt terrible so I've got some 11|50 flats on the way. Tune her up unplugged and now for the moment of truth.

Wow. Not the "spang" and depth or volume you'd get with a Guild A-150 Savoy let's say, but a great acoustic tone. Really good.Intonation is spot on. And plugged in to my Rivera R55? Great. Wonderful! And I've got one more tube amp I can try and two solid states, so, should be good somewhere in there at least.

With new/different strings, I'm pretty sure it'll be everything I'd hoped for. Like the budget box one buys and then has to change out all the components on - except you don't have to.

Anyone thinking about a guitar like this might want to move fast. Especially if they really did only make 25 of them. It's kind of ugly...sure not my favorite color and I hate the knobs but I'll just put some gold speedies on there and that'll help the top a lot I think.

    Cheers!

The link takes me to a gig bag page, not a guitar in sight.

Link works fine for me. I have the Loar LH650 and have loved it. Enormous value for the money. Needed some setting up, but still it is a very nice guitar.

There was one for sale in the For Sale forum here that looks wonderful. Like mine, it's a rare natural finish.

That natural LH650 sat there for 6 months. Hard to find in that finish. Many here poo-poo these guitars, most having never played one, but I’ve had great fortune now with 4 of them. Tough to top for $800. Eastman’s can’t touch the tone of a good LH650

So jthorn, now that you've had the guitar for a few months. What are your thoughts.

It's now listed at MF for $974.99 and I wouldn't buy it at that price. It was a nice guitar but I had two others in my living room that I was trying out and that was one that I returned, along with a Loar LH-650 that was shop worn and had horrible fret sprout. Both of the Loars had intermittent electronic issues that also put me off the brand.

I ended up with a used Hagstrom HJ800 that I had to install all new pots and wiring in, but after an investment of $650, I'm quite happy with what will be my learning instrument for jazz. Longer scale, nice acoustic sound, good enough pups for the time being at least, and not too fat or wide. It might be made in China, but Hagstrom is still a Swedish company and not some Asian consortium like Hohner is. It's a well made guitar.
