Got my new archtop from Lora's suppliers las week. As always, great quality and for the price you can't complain for minor details they might have forgotten or not gotten completely right. They generally do a great job, but there were a few specs off. The scale was a bit shorter than requested, but I don't have a problem with 25". The neck is wider than I wanted but for acoustic and maybe even some attempts and finger style not a bad thing. Although I must say, neck shapes are their biggest challenge. They tend to be on the "huge side" I prefer the standard Eastman size or the 40's early 50s chunky ones like those found on older Gibson't that tend to feel like they're made just for you're hand as a hand shaped neck should...
The guitar sounds great and is loud as a cannon. I asked for a Tobacco burst, but they used black for the burst instead of a dark brown. More noticeable on the sides than the front or back, where it blends a bit more naturally from the amber center.

Oh, it's 18.5 lower bout!
-
Ah, a nod to Stromberg!
-
My goodness! Looks fantastic.
-
Yes, it's Stromberg Inspired. I called her "Suprema" lol
Thanks, I agree. She's pretty

Well done. As someone once said, we can't always get what we want, but sometimes we get what we need. And that looks very inviting indeed!
-
What is the size of the guitar.
-
25" scale

?Wow, that's great looking. Amazing.
Funny thing is this morning I was wondering when someone was gonna pipe up and give us another Wu NGD thread and here ya are !! It's really amazing... Kudos to Mr and Mrs Wu (she does most inlay work) and of course Ms. Lora...
Really nice..
Big

So, how does it sound? Hopefully a big, big-band bark.
-
Beautiful, big band box you've got there! Play it in good health.
-
Gorgeous! Congratulations, and play it in good health!

Wowzer!!

Well, the sound is very similar to a flat top acoustic surprisingly. Although it's a parallel braced archtop the sound is very full and resonant, still has the mid focus expected from an archtop, but similar to a traditional acoustic's tone in many ways.
Thanks for the compliments, I feel better about some of the minor order errors

They should have gotten the neck width right. I like a 43mm. I can do 44. Larger than that it gets to be a stretch. I like 25" for a scale length but if you asked for 25.5" that's what it should have been. I see these as important parameters and it seems like there is a lack of communication inside Yunzhi. As for the baseball bat neck profile, not sure how you get around that. Mine are near perfect for me and like them better than Eastman necks which I find too skinny.
And there are just times when you're gonna need a nice big archtop. A friend asked me to play lead fills for their bluegrass band. Guitar will be mic'd rather than plugged in and I'm guessing they won't be real good about backing way off volume for guitar bits. So, with .014 acoustic strings on my 18" maple back Yunzhi I can only say, 'bring it'.

This is a terrific looking guitar!

I dig that shading too! And that 3.25" depth! Congrats on another stellar build Abelljo! She's a keeper!
