have you considered, as i once did, simply getting a regular sized bolt on, a popping the neck off when you travel? put some threaded inserts in the body or something and remove as needed?
Actually, a good friend made me an offer I couldn't refuse on one of the John Stowell style Soloettes.

The Soloette's are superb guitars. I am thrilled with my new Kiesel Zeus that just came in last week. It looks like one of your "Loon" models a bit. Mahogany body, 5 piece maple/mahogany neck, 5 way switch, and only weights 6 lbs. Fits in any air carrier compartment or just between your legs. I was surprised how good of a case it brings too.

    Cheers,
    Arnie..

I came across Brunner guitars a while ago when searching for a short scale bass. Price for the electric travel guitar (or bass) is not that bad for a custom instrument. They/He is in Switzerland, however, so customs & postage will apply.

EDIT: Looks like I missed the post where you mentioned finding a guitar already.
