Pretty

Nice, elegant actually

Yeah, go figure. The form factor of the Jazzica seems to work with a bunch of nutty finishes, perhaps because it doesn't have the psychological baggage that accompanies traditional archtop guitars. Gertsch can also get away with the nutty metallics because they are an integral part of the history of the company.

Now that's some snazz-a-ma-tazz! Congratulations, and play 'em in good health!

I find remarkable of this instrument being a 24-fretter. I can't remember of any other instrument like it. Do you?
-
i generally approve of people doing interesting things with guitars, so long as they look good. and this does. always wondered about that pickguard, though.
wish more hofners were extant in general. they of such great unsung beauty across the decades. lately they seem to be making more practical decisions, which i disagree with, but what sells sells. can't fault them for that, even if i prefer the more ornate ones to the plainer ones. the clubs look awesome, but i prefer something a little more interesting than dots. i do like the loopy, pinstripey headstock thing they do with the clubs, though. the lilies are nice, too (but i am a little partial to the giant, impractical frondose one).

The gold is beautiful.
-
I can't get beyond that bass. Beautiful! Where can I get one?
-
I love that color combination, but I always liked the looks of the ES-295 as well. It also brings to mind that strangest of concoctions-the Les Paul signature semi that came in gold.
Someone help me, is the pickup floating or is there just a gap under the surround?
-
It's a floating pickup. The ring is mounted to the end of the neck, same as on stock Jazzicas, New Presidents and Chancellors.

Have I got the guitar for you! A few years back, Hofner made three New Presidents w/"frondose" headstocks, birdseye maple rims/backs, and perloid binding. I grabbed two of them, and will be selling one or both soon enough. Here's a preview:

Or you could order one through a dealer in the UK or Europe, which would be painted by Hofner's guys in Europe, but I suspect that might take, er, ah, ... awhile and cost a lot. Your most cost-effective approach would be to dig up a used 500/2 Club bass (easy enough to find in the UK and Europe) for WAY less and simply have it repainted by a UK-based painter.Last edited by Hammertone; 03-15-2019 at 05:06 AM.

HT,
That's a _gorgeous_ Hofner.

My reaction too Rob, but it's a real beauty, isn't it?

Violins made by Graslitz luthiers were already sought after in the 17th century, and I'd certainly refuse to trade my Graslitz made Kohlert and F.X. Hüller saxophones for any other horns.
The medieval German syllable "Graz" means pine forest. Last but not least, Graslitz was the original home of the Rossmeisl family (Roger).

That gold top is a cool looking guitar, enjoy.
-
What can I say, I like a nice goldtop.

Just had the pickup changed in my Jazzica. New pickguard too (just because it made the install easier).
Loving the Jazzica design. Really dig the wedge shaped body.
