Gorgeous!

What a beautiful instrument! Did the couch come with it?

Hammertone helped Patrick with the build of this.
It was assembled at Heritage but has a lot of Patrick parts and specs. The body used a Super Eagle mold but was shimmed down to about 17.5" across. The depth is 1/4" deeper than standard.
Patrick acquired the top, back and rims himself. Heritage provided the neck to match the highly figured body.
There is no cupid's bow, which allowed full support under the entire fretboard. Patrick thought this would help prevent ski sloping.
The pickup is a Kent Armstrong single coil. The bridge is a Gagnon. The tailpiece came from ABR in Germany. Volume and tone pots are under the pickguard with wheel controls.
Marv Lamb did the tap tuning. He had a different minimalist approach to that compared to some others. I don't recall what his approach was.
The guitar is a masterpiece really.

...and, the gorgeous finish.
-
Wow. That's about as good as it gets in my opinion.
And I'll say it again...dang, the Heritage folks know their way around a sunburst!
-
OK…VERY nice guitar. Mark has confirmed that Patrick drove them nuts while it was being built, and I can see why. The guitar sits right inbetween the body dimensions of a SuperEagle/KB and a Golden Eagle/HJ, with the rim depth of the HJ.
Set up with a set of TI flats. The Kenny is strong with this one.
-25 3/8" scale.
-3 1/4" rim depth.
-17 1/8" wide.
-20 11/16" long.
-x-braced.
-extra binding on the back and f-holes.
-cream-coloured binding, white&black purfling - very cool look.
-heel cap that actually matches/lines up with binding.
-strong recarve.
-ABM 1281 tailpiece, Kent Armstrong single-coil floater, Gagnon bridge, as mentioned
-came with TWO couches:

Hammer, I think I played Stardust on your Guitar. It is a beautiful guitar. Patrick was Mega proud of it. And he really had strong opinions about what was best when assembling the components of a guitar.
I love the trading that goes on here. We keep them in the family.

What a fantastic archtop!!! And I love all of the special features Patrick commissioned for it, especially the Florentine cutaway.
All combined for a very couch-worthy instrument x2.
-
This is a world class archtop.

I tore myself away from an oxtail ragu to find a couple of photos of this beauty. The only problem I ever had with this guitar was the shape of the neck, until you play it you won't understand. I paid Fran Amato 5k for it. After multiple attempts to bond with it I decided to have Pete Moreno receive the neck, he had the very stain Heritage used, I was all set for a road trip. Two days later I'm trading it to Marty for the American Eagle which has a perfect neck for me and that "swirly reverb" when you play her plugged in...
Enjoy these photos

I could not be happier that one of my favorite guitars from Patrick's collection now resides with Hammertime! Another outstanding SB from Heritage too! Congrats HT!

As hard as I tried, under many indoor and outdoor settings it was near impossible to photograph it to show that guitar is actually one solidstain, no burst. And I loved that pickup on it. That was a tough one - I had the 17 inch Unity, the HDA and Patrick's favorite Golden Eagle single set pickup (think blonde Wes) competing with it for my attention. Glad to see you got it Hammertone, kill with it buddy, KILL with it (in the words of my old friend Nazarrino Furiosi - you made it so good YOU KILLED IT). Well PLAY IT SO GOOD YOU KILLED IT.

Hi beautiful guitar. Beautiful wood, burst, and cutaway. I'm still kind'a new here. Not sure who Patrick was but I can see he got a lot of respect around here. Can anyone hum a few bars and fill us new fellas in about Patrick?
-
he was knowledgeable like no other, kind, so cool he had a fireplace in his bathroom, and a Marine!

He was a highly vocal and opinionated denizen of New Jersey, quick to judge and then quick to apologize.
He was a shoot first, ask questions later guy.
He wore his heart on his sleeve.
He helped the Heritage guitar company sell a pile of archtop guitars over the years in a professional capacity, and owned and commissioned quite a few of them.
He was a big cheerleader for American archtop guitars and classic movies, a generous and lovable guy and a curmudgeonly coot all rolled into one.
We had great fun both on and off-line.
