I saw a vid recommending putting little rubber grommets between the humbucker casing and the top to maximise top vibration.

I've added the '61 330 models to my shortlist .. Not that I expect to get one, but you never know what might happen, if Gibson also starts dumping prices at our side of the pond

I used this guitar on a solo jazz guitar gig through my AER Compact 60.
This is a superb jazz guitar. Worth every cent.

IMO Grant Green's ES330 Blue Note tone was a tough act to follow even comparing to his DAQNY.
Strictly my ears talking.
I am really digging the new 2018 330's. No VOS nonsense. Maybe next year a smoking deal on those ?
They have a larger headstock and no whammy.
I have always dug Chet Atkins but too late in life for me to master a whammy.....never used one.
I like 1 pickup and 2 knobs and nothing else. I actually dislike 2 pu guitars. The rear one is a useless brick to me.
If a 330 without a Bigsby shows up I will snag it for sure. My friends is a tone monster. It is also feather light.
The 330 does jazz quite well. The 335 just OK at best....IMO.

The irony is that as time passes and it wears, it will look newer.

Vibromate has an accessory to make restringing the Bigsby easier. Bigsby has one also, but I'm not sure they released it yet. I prefer to just wrestle with the strings and curse. I always prevail eventually.

I always kept a small pair of needle-nosed pliers in the case, and some cork chunks to wedge under the ends. And cursed. It might not have helped, but did make me feel better. A muttered imprecation now and then comes in handy.

I have had Bigsby tailpieces before and know what I am in for regarding string changes. At some point, this guitar might get a Trapeze and a buffing. VOS is not for me and we will see about the Bigsby.

giiby uses bigsby b-7's on those..too bad..as they will leave two visible holes on the top, if changed to a trapeze
too bad they didn't use a b-6..as it would have been a fairly straight exchange to replace with trapeze
but apparently it needed more tension between bridge and tailpiece....hence the bigsby with extra roller tension bar
cheers

Neatomic, screw holes can be filled or plugged. No bother to me. For the time being, the Bigsby stays. I do an occasional Western Swing gig where the Bigsby will come in handy, and even find the Bigsby useful for a tastefully executed ending chord.
Vinny, the 330 is a better jazz guitar than a 335 for sure. I have owned quite a few semi hollows, including three 335's and have always felt that they are solid bodies masquerading as hollow bodies. Even with the Bigsby, this 330 is a very resonant guitar with a very acoustic voice. Grant Green knew what he was doing. And these P-90's are dead quiet. And very detailed. Truly superb PUPS

Time for me to weigh in I suppose.
I agree that the 330 can do almost all of what you might want for jazz. The trade off is high fret access c/w a 335.
The practical argument for the deeper neck pocket on the 330 is balance. The 335 has a center block to prevent neck dive.
The pickups are obviously different but can be swapped out.
The 330 is much more resonant. I don't know if you're really capitalizing on that difference with those light strings as much as you could. To me, that hollowness sells the instrument. It doesn't have the biting sustain of the 335, but that may not be what you are after.
I got my 345 because it's got a smaller, lighter center block. It doesn't have the acoustic volume of the 330, but it is louder than the usual 335 yet has good sustain.
It's also a Memphis build. And it still has the original Gibson strings due to my profound laziness. The quality of the guitar is as good as any of my previous Kalamazoo semi-hollow builds.
Here it is flaunted its low fat figure. I anticipate my incoming Lucille and 355 will be about 3 lbs heavier.

Looking at 330s due to this thread made me realize that Gibson recently also released a humbucker version of the 330.
Too many delicious options

The Bigsby on that humbucker equipped 330L might balance out any potential neck dive.
The upper fret access on the 330 is slightly less than on a 175 as the Florentine cutaway on the 175 is a tad deeper. I would still prefer a 175 over a 330 for jazz but there are a few times when the 330 would be better.
The slimmer body of the 330 makes it a bit more comfortable to play standing and perhaps a tad more feedback resistant.
The Bigsby makes this a better Country music axe.
The P 90 pickups add extra detail, which can be quite handy when playing a room with muddy acoustics.
-
Another consideration is how cool the thinline double cutaway Gibsons look. This is probably because it dominated my early culture.

That Dario Faiella clip is phenomenal. Very sensitive rendition! Thanks, MG!

Sounds like you found he right combination for these CME deals. Might have to pop for a 330. Always loved the Beatles and Grant Greene. The combination is the 330/Casino.

Buy an Epiphone "61 RI Casino. Gibson USA P90's and excellent woods. Thin resonant top, and a healthy (not thin - not chunky) neck.
I think mine is the best guitar I have owned (out of many many).
It's a 330. I like it as much as my L5 CES, which is a great guitar, and that's saying a lot.
Very user and gig friendly. Inspires me to play.
-
My suggestion is to get a 275 for $1525. Add a Bigsby if you want later.
-
Damn that is cheap .. I'm tempted to risk having it shipped to Scandinavia and pay our tax fees. They sit at 3500$ currently over here.
