Congrats. In regard to the buzzing . . . I have no skin in the Plek game, but I have 2 solid body guitars (one with jumbo and one with skinny frets) that have had a Plek and they are the best playing guitars I have by a long shot. If I had that es, I would take for a plek. Buzzing should disappear.

FWIW, my best playing guitar is also the one that was Plek'd.

Oh the smell! I got an old mandolin that had a smell. Ordered a uv-life uv-c light wand (that will make you blind if you look at it or sick if your skin is exposed to it for any length of time) and stuck it in a box witj the mandolin for a few hours. Problem solved but ymmv.

Thanks for the tips! Actually the buzzing I later found was to do with the volume knob being slightly loose. It was only apparent in certain positions though so I thought it was the frets, I've raised the action a bit as well so it's all good. The smell has gone down and I kind of like how it smells - it's not bad, just smells like it's been used.
I've recorded a little video of me playing it. It's Tal Farlow's solo on Swedish Pastry recorded with the Red Norvo Trio.

Nicely played!

Yours is in extremely good condition! I don't see any scratches, nick or dings at all....

It's actually quite dinged up! But it's got loads of vibe. The finish is worn on the neck in a couple of spots and the pickguard got quite a few scratches and there's a bit of finish checking.
