On the hunt for a Gibson semi or hollow-body with P-90s. Can anyone tell what model Binky Griptite is playing here:

Yeah, I would love a 59 reissue 330. I almost bought one from CME on Tuesday but we couldn't agree on the price with shipping to Canada - my budget is CAD $2500. Which is appro. US $1900 with current exchange rate. They are sold out now.

I'm curious about the ES-390. I haven't played it but I saw the Casino coupe too so I guess it must be selling. I wonder if it's more geared towards pop or jazz.

The 390 appears to be a pretty versatile guitar. Would be good for jazz being hollow body. Less prone to feedback with laminate top and smaller body size, so great for blues, soul, rock as well.

Binky's guitar also has what appears to be a "staple" pup, not a P-90. SD?

Looks like a pair of P-90s to me. You can clearly see the single row of poles on the neck PU. But I could be wrong. Here's a link to the video:

If you play live outside it comes in handy. Hollow bodies tend to be light so the bigsby ensures it doesn't fly away.

Never play outdoors especially in tornado alley unless you have Bigsbys on all your guitars.

very different tone than dogear p90...cleaner and more rounded..super underrated pupLast edited by neatomic; 08-11-2017 at 07:07 PM.

When I got my 175 the guy had converted it to all gold hardware including a gold Bigsby. He was in shock when I told him it was a deal if he takes the boat anchor off and puts the original tailpiece back on. And yes I converted the whole guitar back to chrome hardware.

I hear ya. Gold hardware and bigsbys aren't for everyone. I was never a fan of gold hardware until I got my Howard Roberts Fusion III. I think it looks pretty classy with the finger tail piece.

Why do you think it's a Duncan when Gibson never stopped making the Staple?

Just checked out a few of his You Tube performances. Great, old-school-RnB-soul-singer-n-guitar-slinger.
