Just a quick question. Sellers on the used market tend to promote their peerless Epiphones as being superior to the current ones and thus want a price that is a good bit higher.

Is there any truth to this or is it the usual 'anything old is better' BS?

There is an Epiphone Broadway that I might be interested in.

I'm older enough to remember when Korean guitars were thought to be dogmeat.

I got myself an Epi Emp Reg that was made in the Unsung factory in Korea. The fit and finish was poor and needed a lot of tweaking to make it play.
Used Epi Emp Regs hold their value, I guess that would be the peerless made one's.

I would check it over before purchase just to make sure its a player.

On the other hand I have a Chinese Squier Tele and Jazzmaster that are faultless and well made and are better out of the box than the epi ever was, so go figure!

One thing that I like about Peerless is that their named brand instruments are probably the highest quality instruments that they build.

I just bought a Peerless Epi from Tim and I am amazed at the build quality of the guitar, none of the Epi's I've checked out in stores over the last decade come close to it.

Big Peerless fan here. Not older is better. I did a lot of research on Epi Casinos and Peerless (not Unsung) ones seem to be coming off better in terms of pure build quality. The very recent ones from China seem to have been catching up though.

As usual, pickups and hardware is the weak spot. And also as usual, you can have a lemon anywhere.

Nothing but good things to say about my 2003 Emperor Regent from Peerless plant; it also had the best neck I ever played.

Yes, I've tried 'vintage' guitars more than once that turned out to be just old and tired

Me too .. which is why I made this post.

But apart from that plenty of good things have been said about the peerless, so thanks all!

I think I'm going to threat it as if it was a current and offer what I would pay for a used 2015 guitar and if he sticks to his 650€ asking price, then no big deal ... once again thanks!

Epi Peerless are generally thought of as very high quality. I had an Epi JP from the Samick factory that was top-notch as well.

I also have a recent Peerless Sunset that is very good quality.

I think that Peerless and Samick have both gotten down the manufacturing process to a science since 15-20 years ago. The others I don't know about.

Recent Epi's like the Dot are made in Indonesia. I don't think they or the Chinese have the experience that the Korean builders do, but they're catching up.

i'll see you and raise you one..i remember when japanese guitars were considered dogmeat!! haha

    Epi's peerless vs. current-greco-950-aka-shrike-jpg

the general order has been japan-korea-china-indonesia/india

there was a time when samick factory made epis, were considered to be the best- early-mid 90's...now peerless is considered good too

the problem comes, not from the country of origin but in getting the manufacturing facility up and running long enough, to figure out how to make nice guitars...when the factories are continually moved from one country to another, the learning curve begins all over again each and every time

once the factory is stable with good automation, access to decent wood and experienced crews, then the guitars will be better...witness fmic's squier line..which has only gotten better and better despite their relatively low price point

    cheers

    Epiphone Broadway, 2015, Peerless made, 650 €.
IMO that do not fit together.

I have an Unsung made, 2014, for sale at 499 € (case included), it has to go but it doesn't

The obvious is playing them and deciding yourself.

A lot of people selling them are not aware of the origin but you can be and get a good price on them.

And I'm old enough to remember when "CBS" made Fender gits and amps were junk. Now look at the prices of some of those guitars. Jeez, they even re-issued silver face amps!

    I havw lived in korean.

At my expirelss, epiphone(peerless and samick boast hand for making( verry most stable sound) at about 20-25 years ago.

At that time, Samick was at its heyday.

I think samick and peerless epi guitar is well worth enough to purchaed. Ofcourse.... you must have to decision how preserved condition is good.
