Total with auction house fees was just over 4K.

And how many of those payments are you supposed to make? Three?

Heritage charged me sales tax on the guitar I bought from them and IIRC, shipping was not cheap. But still, that was a steal for a dream guitar. Congrats again!

Mine with overnight shipping and all fees was just under $4880.00. A steal to me considering my high bid was well over 12k (not counting PB, fees, taxes and shipping)...

I told Joe D this yesterday. I felt a little like leaving it alone as these have probably been together a long time, but.....

I don't mind the Allparts PickGuards. I realize the shape may be slightly different, but they are the right color and have the right type of binding. I have put them on four L5's and I was pretty happy with the result. The $100 list price is cheap and you can usually find them for around $70 on eBay.

I recently decided to replace the pickguard on my 1947 L7, and in this case I didn't go with the Allparts guard because my L7's original guard was single bound tortoise (and a different shape than Allparts). I had Leroy Aiello make me a reproduction pickguard from a tracing of my original guard. If you aren't familiar with Leroy, he did the repairs for Mandolin Bros. back in time. He did an excellent job on my guard, very fast turnaround and his price was reasonable. It is a perfect replacement. Leroy has templates and will do the the multiple binding on an L5 guard. I highly recommend him, his website is here:

I attached a picture of the L7 pickguard he made for me.

Looks good and covers up the extra holes drilled in the top from past guards. You're all set now.
