Obviously fraud is no good but people should be able to do what they want with their money. I'm sure joy of ownership plays a big factor in a lot of these purchases so great, let them have it. I think there's a real danger in perpetuating the idea that skill level should have any bearing on how much money someone should have tied up in any of their hobbies.

It's not my intention to denegrade anyone who doesn't possess superior skill set on guitar. Rather that people who are not skilled at this profession pass expert judgement on something they are not that good at. And while we say Leo Fender and Ted McCarty were not musicians they depended on experts to help create these instruments.

I don't think we'd accept non professional in most other fields Doctors.Lawyers even Plumbers dispensing expert opinions on their respective proffesions. And while it's fine as a hobby to pass judgement in no way should it be construed as expert advice.
Even as a pro musician I know my limitations as far as being able to speak of Classical and Flamenco guitar. And I've been doing this to make a living for 43 years now.

I just wish they'd stop screwing the pick guards into the soundboards on L-5s.
