Received my Stew-Mac Mini Screwdriver set, love it. A great feature is that all of the bits are magnetic, and get sucked into the housing and held tight.
Except one: the small socket adapter. It's loose, won't go in all that way, there's no mag pull, and it keeps falling out. Before I contact SM, did I get a bad one? Or are all of yours like that?

Just checked mine. Everything goes in all the way and seems to be held by the magnet. That includes the small socket adapter. Wonder if there is burr on yours somewhere?

Ditto.

Does yours have that conical area but with a longer shaft? Or do you have a longer shaft without the cone altogether?

Mine is like yours. While it is about a third shorter than the other end tools in its shaft engagement, it still has plenty of interface to prevent rotation when assembled into the handle.

Yes, it slides forward about 1/3rd of the engagement length, but holds within the screwdriver handle when inverted. If I shake it, it will fall out whereas the others do not.

You both got something wonky. My shaft is as long (stop the laughter
) as all the other bits. It fits into the driver and engages the magnet just like everything else in the kit.

Thanks for verifying it, I'll call them this week. And congrats on having a longer shaft

It has the conical area like in the photos, but a longer shaft which is the same length as the other parts in the kit. My other shaft has the proverbial "dome" shape. It is also longer than the entire kit, but that is TMI, I am sure. Sorry.

stew mac sells a lot of ordinary cheap junk from china

I generally buy my cheap tools at Harbor Freight. Stew-Mac is a little high, and has very high shipping fees. Harbor Freight has much of the same stuff, with no shipping, I just drive down the road a piece. For some tools, it's worth buying quality, but not for all of them. Sometimes good enough is good enough.

Hats off to Stew-Mac. I called them and they rushed out a whole new set with a paid return label for the old one. (And I had told them there was no hurry, I just wanted the one correct bit whenever they could get it out.) And the woman on the phone was super nice to speak with.

If your replacement set comes correct, I will do the same with mine...thanks
