Yeah, I like the original rakish angled pup and fretboard extension. I'd put a Vintage Vibe floating CC Blade on it.

A Lollar JS is good but kinda playing it safe. Too safe for my liking. Makes it easier for a straight-across VVCC replacement though.

    Jabs,
I would be tempted except that I have agreed to have Eastman's Custom Shop build me a ElRey4 with a pick guard, floating pickup , different tailpiece, inlays etc. I looked at the FV and I liked the specs except for the body width. If it was less than 3" I would have gone that route.

As much as I’d love to grab one of these, the fact that my audience consists of a couple of dogs, I can’t justify having more than one archtop. I liked the angled pickup better, but I still think these look killer. Having played a couple of the Thorell’s, the ergonomics of the instrument were great, and they had this great hybrid archtop/Selmer tone to it. Maybe when the student loans are paid off J

Has anyone had a chance to play one of these yet? I like the idea of a hybrid archtop/gypsy jazz guitar. Hopefully I can pick one up around Christmas time.

It looks like Frank is playing the Eastman in these two videos:
