    Gonna buck the trend here and say use a Tele A lot less headache. Not for the purist, but it will work for the purpose and work well. It's really more about how you play than anything else. Bounce your left hand to control sustain, play the right inversions, try to stick to 3-note chords, use a fairly bright tone and you're pretty much done.

    But, if you MUST have the acoustic tone, then Mr. Stout is your go-to resource.

    I've heard a Selmer (Django style) guitar used convincingly in Freddie Green style with a swing band. It's a bit brasher but works. I've also heard it done with a Silvertone archtop from a thrift store.
