I have sold three guitars to members of this forum and bought two from a forum member. All were below top dollar retail prices, in fact all five deals were very fair. That is how it should be among friends.

And that is all I am going to say about that.

I'm thinking I might just pack up my archtops and only play my Fender Strat and Tele, life is simpler that way . . . need to listen to more Ed Bickert and less Pass and Burrell.

Buy that and sell it for $4000, 2bop. Would ya? Or is it not low enough for a decent profit?
My feeling is it's priced to sell, and has not sold because of the Bigsby styled tailpiece. I'd never buy an archtop with a Bigsby. I suspect many other archtop fans feel the same way, and that's why that guitar sits. If it's a straight SE with even a Heritage styled tailpiece that SE is sold long ago.

And no, there's no profit in buying that guitar for a $500 sales profit. First there's shipping cost, to get the guitar to you, and then paypal and reverb commission cost. In the end you've $100 to show for your packing and shipping anxiety to sell that guitar. That's not worth ones time.

How about this...we agree to disagree. Have a good day J-Dub.

You rock Vinny! How's that for a guitar buy and sell! Still, it must have been painful to part with a D'Aquisto. Any photos of that D'Q?

Speaking of Eagles priced right, here's a rare red Golden Eagle "custom" that in reality has a lower bout of 18", like a Super Eagle. Priced right for the right buyer....This is only the second red GE I've ever seen. She's a real looker!

Not too painful as I love my daughter way more and she now has a little condo she calls home. Just some shoebox pics of it left and pics of Jimmy making it that I posted awhile back.

I've sold 7-8 guitars on the for sale listings. Each bought correctly, and sold here on the forum for the price the guitars were acquired for.

I could have easily turned a profit on each guitar. I sold them here as a favor to forum members.

I've listed others here that did not sell. Such as a primo natural finish L5CES, listed for sell here for $5500, at a time L5's were still going for $6500.

It's nice to trade among forum members. And it feels good to pass along a guitar at a great price.

making a great profit on the D'A justifies everything

Yeah, and what's with the like and "thumbs down" buttons? The forum now can become like youtube, where a great song gets 4000 thumbs up and 5 thumbs down?

I tender my apologies to you, 2bop. Language was strong. Reasoning was lacking.

Been on the wagon since April and it is time to fall off and get a nice long cool drink.

    See y'all when I see y'all.

Take care, guys. Keep doing what you love doing. Live's too short not to play the stuff you love. Look at Patrick Amato. And my heart breaks to say tell y'all this, Professor Roland Dyens. Gone too soon at 61.

    One did just days ago.

It's become obvious that some members here, self admitted Gibson fans, apparently know less about Heritage "values" on the used market than others. I don't count you in that crowd. But it appears that others speak about false Heritage values as an attempt to substantiate their point, when in fact the Heritage value they've stated is false. This can only suggest that some will tell non truths in an attempt to be proven right.

The Heritage large archtop's have a stronger resell value than the smaller archtops. That's fact and I could present sold listings to prove the point. But the information is there for anyone to locate if they seek the truth beyond forum speak.
    2b,
My Heritage Johnny sold for 4K to a friend who was happy with the price. It was a dead mint almond burst.

No apology needed J-Dub. You know where you stand with me. I love you man. That doesn't mean I have to agree with you 100% of the time

You take care of yourself brother!

QAman, that was a beauty! One of the nicest I've seen. That shading is to die for. Heckuva buy that was too! The new owner must be VERY happy with that guitar! Thanks for posting the photos. Nice photo shoot too!

And there were very few scratches (but I don't obsess over that). However the entire range from frets 12-17 on the treble strings was unacceptable to any serious player, and no amount of truss rod/action tweaking would dial it out. I tried.

Shame, because it is the best looking GE I've ever seen, otherwise I would not have been tempted to buy it.
    Roger,
I agree . The burst was beautiful and the guitar sounded more like an earlier Gibson L5 - which caught my attention. I actually pointed everything out to my contact and he said the owner was just trying to get what he could .

Knowing that it's been returned twice - I think $2200-$2400 might secure it . But it needs fingerboard leveling/ refret and probably a new saddle with more height to offset drop in top - which was typical of what I've noticed on other Golden Eagles.

The scratches were not major and isolated mainly on the top. The work would probably cost around $400-500 at Larkstreet.

Oh, I've no doubt you bought it right! You know more about buying and selling than I ever could. But if I lived in your neck of the woods I'd be in trouble because I see many, many, great buys on the East coast. Where I live, Seattle, it's still a Grunge town.

Perhaps the misconception that the Heritage 575 is the Heritage equivalent to the Gibson 175 is the fault of Heritage guitars themselves, because in reality, there are more differences between the models than there are similarities; the most important of which is the use of solid carved wood in the Heritage rather than Gibson's laminates. Other glaring differences include massive differences in body depth and bling levels.

With that in mind, had Heritage not named the 575 in such a way that recalls the classic Gibson model, it's possible that the guitar world would more readily identify it as the unique instrument that it is rather than a shadow of its imposing Gibson counterpart.

Oh my, that is GORGEOUS! If this was the spring I would buy it and sell my motorcycle to cover it, but no one is buying bikes in November in South Jersey and the bride would kill me for dropping 4K "when i already have a bunch"

That guitar does say Super Eagle in the description though, it only says Golden Eagle in the title. "Up for auction is a 2011 Heritage Super Eagle (with custom upgrades) single pickup guitar in translucent cherry finish"

That is going to haunt my dreams, I know it......
