They really heard the feedback of the JC-120 being too heavy Roland launches JC-22

Do you think 2x6.5 can work?

I have the new JC-40. I liked it out of the box, but since I recently began using it more I am really beginning to love it. It's about 34 lbs, which is easy to carry in one hand. It also stays perfectly clean at max volume, which will never be needed, but is nice. The distortion still isn't perfect, but it is much better than that on the JC-120 and is definitely usable.

I had a JC-60 for many years. Not the most common JC model. One 12" speaker. It did what it did really well!! Clear and bright and that chorus has become iconic! It did have a bit of hiss. And the distortion sucked.

This little 22 looks great to me! Good move, Roland! Add in the headphone jacks, the pedal send/returns...I bet it takes a RAT very well.

But will this cannabilize the Cube 20? Hmmm....which would you rather have?

I wonder how the tone compares to the Clean channel on the Roland Cube 40X?

What's the speaker in the microcube? That works pretty well.

So this would almost be like a stereo microcube speakers (with a good deal more "oomph) with JC circuitry?

Shoot...I'm gonna have to try one of these out. Could be great for the classroom.

Reminds me of the old Gallien Kruger 250ML. I wanted one of those sooo badly back in the 80's, but never got one. Those sounded good enough, so I think this should be fine for low(ish) volume use

I really liked the concept and musical content of the video. Now I'm going to see how much it costs...

looks like $500 or so... I don't know. Seems a little much for something that, for me, would be in the "new toy" category. I would like to play through it though!

they dropped the distortion switch and the vibrato option..only chorus..and its probably digi..like the new jc 120's..not that old lush analog chorus

also might be hard getting good fairly loud clean bass tones from two 6.5 speakers & 30 watts

retro cool, but pricey for what it is..

    cheers

Oh, boo, Roland if that's true! That old analog two-speaker analog chorus was the whole reason to have a jazz chorus!

I really think that roland should drop the price a little bit, i also think that if someone use some drive pedal shouldn't buy this amp, the speakers are too small , i've never found an amp with the speaker smaller than 10" that sound good with some dirty sound, in some case an 8" can be fine but it's very hard.

I use to have the jc 77 and the Jc 55, while the clean channel of the second was ok compare to the first, when some overdrive pedal was on the Jc 77 sounded much much better because of the speakers and the Jc 55 to me was one of the best 8" inch speakers amp that wasn't that bad with drive sound

I also had the Jc 20, the smallest of the family, 5" speaker i think, forget about it.

I could buy 2 used Cube 30s for $150 each and run them from a the stereo outs of my Digidelay. I could spread them further apart on the stage if I really wanted the stereo thing.

Haha... that was supposed to be King Crimson!! Never would have guessed.... and I saw them on the Discipline tour. Wow... that was a WHILE ago! Haha indeed! It is strangely comforting to know that there are a lot of us here around that same vintage.

i didn't think that sounded so bad. i like the the idea of a bright switch. i thought it sounded better than my old jc77, so i decided to trot that out. set it flat, cut the mids a bit, and honestly- not so bad! i only played it with electrics this time but it sounded really nice clean. still hate the chorus and don't care much for the reverb, and it is kind of stiff and sounds sort of just there but it was much nicer than it has any right to be. handles the deep lows very well.

yeah, its heavy, and it still hisses but it wasn't really a bother. it shouldn't be an issue at stage levels and even louder home levels, you tune it out right away. an ep booster set low really fills out the lows/low mids, especially if you have a trebley guitar. takes overdrives well and reverbs and delays sound really nice plugged straight in. all the repeats and stuff are very clear. i'd definitely play it out if need be. was sort of tempted to order a few modeling/character pedals but decided against it. its nice as is. and it still does all the bass/vocals/keys/drum machines/mp3 player stuff, too. pretty good deal for the $220 or so it cost me.

if i had a need, i wouldn't mind checking one of the new smaller ones out.
