Do you have any interest in the Heritage H575/575 Custom?

I'm fairly certain that they will build to your spec. Way cheaper than a new 175.

Does Heritage offer a 575 Custom with a laminated body? - that seems to be the missing component for a "175" in the standard 575 spec.

Not sure if having Heritage custom build a 575 will be cheaper than a new 175.

They're really quite different guitars. They just share the florentine cutaway/16" lower bout shape that's so iconic...

Question is, will the NEW Heritage even allow for customization? It's been suggested the new owners are going away from "custom" building. Is it true?

Not true. The new builders are continuing custom orders...BUT the price is increasing considerably for non-standard options. At least one Heritage dealer said that some custom builds could almost double the price. Ouch!!

Glad I already scored my two custom H575's!

I recently fell in love with a Collings Eastside LC on a visit to NYC. It seems to be their take on the ES175-type guitar. Laminate construction, mahogany neck. Stunning instrument. Totally even tone across the neck and some acoustic resonance and tone too. Build quality was first-rate.

    Looked like this one:

Not an ES-175 voiced guitar but a Bennedetto Bravo is 16" with laminated spruce top and set-in pickup, with a laminated maple back. Might be worth a look, and there's usually a couple around used.

i haven't found any. i tried holst, painter, Benedetto, and eastman and my '89 175 blows them all away in terms of tone and feel

Another piece of info...I had contacted one of the builders who occasionally posts here. We discussed a custom instrument where I was looking for something that sounded like an early '60s 175. (This was the idea behind holst and painter and eastman). The luthier I talked to didn't feel comfortable doing that because he wasn't confident he could come close to an early '60s 175 sound using today's materials and construction. I think that's the issue you're going to be dealing with. Many of the so called "improvements" you see in guitar design take you in a different direction.

I think - like the fender stratocaster and telecaster - The gibson 175 was a lucky accident. Given the tone of the post '90 gibson 175s, even gibson can't make an accurate '60s 175 IMO...

    Dibbs duly noted.

That hot blonde has had many admirers, but she's remained faithful to me for years.

The blueburst (I call her NepTune) didn't come from Green Oak. The one you are thinking of is still for sale.

My NepTune was an HOC member trade for my new n.o.s. Millie a few years back. I've since added my own touches to it.

You've resurrected a 9-year-old thread just to tell us how much you hate how another member's custom-built guitar looks?

Interesting question by the OP but no positve answers. Either no one can or they are afraid to try.
