Yeah. "Ours" is a (San Francisco) bay area player.

The tone was ok not great. Now in my opion if you have to conect pedals and effects to the amp to get a good tone then you need a better amp

Sounds pretty darn good to me. 371's are ice pick bright in the first place, so this seems to have tempered that a bit.
I know some folks don't like the lunchbox...I'm guessing they haven't had to play a gig crammed into a corner 6 inches away from a guy eating spaghetti.
With a decent preamp, maybe some reverb, I can get a good tone, good volume, anywhere, and carry it all in a shoulder bag. That's why I like it.

ZT is the best solid state amp I've ever heard or play for electric guitar, hands down. But I wish they would offer the head separate too, as an option. That little speaker inside the lunchbox is not very long lasting. I mean after 6 years of gigging it's giving up on me, and I can't just buy a new one and replace it. That's the only thing I don't like about ZT- very hard for any repair.
I can easily have 12'' cab weighing 8lbs, and if I could have ZT head with it I'd be a happy man.

This paints such a vivid picture.

Reg is a great player. That he would record with the LB says something very positive about it.
But, I have one (an early one) and I can't get a sound out of it that I like. To get any bass response, it has to be on the floor. And, even then, I don't care for the tone. Also, some of the sound is lost to the carpet and people's legs - reducing the effective volume. If I raise it off the floor, it sounds screechy. And, if I turn it up loud, the sound deteriorates further.
I can get more usable volume from my 12 watt Crate practice amp, if I raise it to head height. And, it sounds much better.
I bought the LB because of the weight and the hype (some good players were using it). I guess they figured out how to get a tone they liked. I could not.
If I had to do a quintet gig in a phone booth up a long flight of stairs, I'd still take the Crate, not the LB.Last edited by rpjazzguitar; 09-09-2018 at 03:22 PM.

I keep a Lunchbox in the back of my car as an emergency backup amp. It ain't the most tonefull of beasts, but it sure punches hard for it's size.

"ice pick bright"?
