I've been looking for "something else", just to mix up my routine given that I only play one guitar. There's an Ibanez and a Defurne for sale on this forum that I've had my eye on but I'm reluctant to buy an expensive guitar when I already have a Gibson semi-hollow. I kind of want a "beater" and something different from my ES-139. Spice things up, I guess.
For sale at the music store for 400-something. One of my best friends works there and can probably knock the price down a significant bit. I got a squier jazzmaster(which I _would_ use more but it's a baritone) for next to nothing there on my birthday.
...but do I need another guitar?

I cannot, in good conscience, tell you, or anyone else, to NOT buy a Tele. You simply must buy that Tele.
-
Buy it. Don't think twice.
-
Why not buy a Telecaster? I cannot think of a reason not to have one. Except for the last year, I always have. I remedied this gap last week.
Got to have a Telecaster.
-
I'll talk you out of it if you talk me out of buying a Baja Tele. But let me forewarn you--- I rarely listen to reason when it comes to buying another guitar. My wife can attest to that.
Hey... don't buy that Tele!!!
Your turn. 😈
-
If you buy the one that you posted you might want to consider western shirts, pointy boots and a cowboy hat - or not.
-
Why would I talk you out of buying a telecaster?
-
Hmm... if you're buying your first Tele, why not go trad and get the classic Tele single coil pups instead of P-90s? That's my only beef.
-
Have you played it? And have you played a more convention Tele? I'll never say bad things about Tele's but I'd suggest trying them in both configurations before buying one so far from the traditional configuration. It may be great or it may leave you thinking that you still don't own a Tele.
-
That tele does have P-90's but it also has a 24 3/4" scale, a stop tail like a les paul and a nice neck.......more like a Gibson than a Fender....
-
everybody needs another tele!!
it's like havin another screwdriver in your toolbox..ever enough?? haha
cheers
-
You really should buy that Tele and a more traditional Tele. After some time to save more money you should buy even more Tele's.
-
The Telecaster isn't like a screwdriver...because it's the Swiss Army Knife of guitars.
-
so lets pop some bubbly with that swiss corkscrew!! champagne pearloid tele!
cheers

I have a Japanese '62 Custom reissue with Bill Lawrence Micro-coils and it has a seriously sweet sound. I have 11-47 Thomastik flat wounds on mine and I can bend, twang, and play jazz on the one instrument.

I bought a Squier Classic Vibe 50's a couple of years ago. I can't believe how much I enjoy playing the thing. It's probably my most played guitar now. I would DEFINITELY recommend a tele without reserve. I have played the Modern Player Thinline and really liked it too. It won't be very long before I have 2 (or more) tele.
-
Unfortunately, I have to concur with everyone here. A Tele is a must. I would also opt for a more classic configuration though. I love my American Special Tele to death. Great guitar.
-
Yeah ... You can always use a tele. Buy that one. Then buy a proper tele as well. If you looking into squiers the classic vibes are nice.

Lol.
Those P90 Teles are fun. P90's are the absolute best all round guitar tone.
Two P90's with separate volume and tone controls will make for insane outputs on a cooking valve amp.
BUY BUY BUY BUY BUY.
Then get yourself a second hand Squier 50's Tele for small coin and then thank me later.....
Ha, Jazzguitar.be, I have you now....

I've been wondering how the pickups and wiring in this one would work for jazz compared to more standard Tele pickups.
