    Folks
I ordered a 17" archtop from the Yolanda team in March and I got a notice from Lora that the guitar was packed and sent on July 5 with a China postal tracking number. I am away on business and my wife calls me today and tells me it was delivered. That's less than a week!! Man that is torture. Maybe I can cut my trip short. Will have pics ASAP. Looking forward to a nice surprise.

Lora packages the Wu guitars to survive Armageddon. Most here have never seen a packing job like Lora's.

Joe, is it a stock model, or your own spec? Some of their stock instruments look good too.

It's a stock model with some koi inlay, no electronics and a different tailpiece. Stayed with one of their colors which is honey sunburst. On their products page it is the fourth model down on the right side. I'll post as soon as I can. I'm anxious to check her out!

It looks great! I'm also interested in the one after it, with violin or cello features...

Well, finally got home to open the box! Had a chance to slap the bridge on as well as the fingerest and she's out the door to the shop for a set up. As many have described, the shipping was secure and well done. Lora indicated that the products don't ship with a truss rod key or a key for the case - no big deal. These are some quick pics right out of the box. The figure on the body is not as nice as shown on their website but I have no doubt that it's first rate. Folks at Old Standard Wood indicated that figure isn't an indication of the tonal quality. My first full acoustic archtop. It is extremely light and a hair under 3.5" wide, 17" bout. Got a bit of an aquatic theme going on with the koi at the headstock and the Pisces symbol on the back. Looking forward to getting her in playing condition. Thanks to all the members who have preceded me in this process. Lots of excellent information.

For a stock instrument, it looks great. Well done. I hope it has the sound you want.

Are there prices somewhere on the site?

Beautiful guitar. How's the neck? He's known for very chunky necks.

After living with thinner necks for some time, I rather prefer the beefiness of his neck. Mine's very close to the neck on an L5, or Lucille...very D shaped, which is what I ordered.

I like the beefier neck as well since my fingers are long but I'm certain that they would make the neck to your specs. Prices aren't listed consistently on their website but I would say a budget range would be between $1200 - $1400 if you stick to a fairly stock model - that was my experience. Use the email contact info from their website and Lora will return a quote to you and you can start a dialog with her.

I just got the new wu back from the luthier and he needed to do some fret dressing and work at the nut to get it all dialed in. Put some Retros on it and finally got to play it today. Interesting note is when I dropped the guitar off to get setup, I got a call from the luthier (Bishop Stearn in Virginia) asking me where I got the guitar. When I told him he said that he felt the guitar was built very well. I think that's a pretty high complement from a guy who builds them.

The details look pretty amazing - not a lot of negatives. The finish is very thin (and soft) and the case is pretty low quality - no big deal. The guitar is very light and comfortable for me. As I mentioned it's my first all acoustic archtop and it sounds and feels totally different from the 165 and 137C...duh. This was a pretty cool experiment and I'm glad I did it. Basically about a 4 month order start to finish. Zero issues with shipping or customs - big bonus. Again, thanks to our forum members who put their experiences out there for me. I think it will definitely get better over time and I'll likely explore getting a floater at some point - but not for now - just want to enjoy it as is.

Yeah cheap case. But mine lives out front in the room. I'm surprised to hear about thin lacquer. Although mine was a 7 month build with requested additional drying time. 4 months is quick. Welcome to archtops!

I like the thin lacquer. I'm sure that if the lacquer is somewhat soft it will harden as it dries with time. Although I will say that with American lacquer from home depot etc, I get a solid feel in a couple of weeks. The cases have always been lesser quality, but being such a great value for their guitars, I have never been bothered by that. I like what's coming out of that part of the world in terms of archtop quality and affordability.

    Beautiful guitar!
