I got mad and bought the L5P. The next day I was offered the price I wanted on the LeGrand but it was too late.
I am really hoping the L5P is a winner. I really wanted the LG. I always shoot from the hip. I don't always hit my target.

    I think you'll like the L5P ....

But you would have liked the LG as well

    LOL

Congrats on the L5P Vinny. She looks fabulous.

But I'm curious. We're talking $8.5k vs $8.1k. $400 was more important to you than getting the instrument you most wanted?

2b....It was a principal thing with me not $400. I gave them 20k this year. One hand should wash the other. I also bought a new axe for my son. I see it the other way around. They lost a huge customer over the $400. The L5P also has a list price $500 higher so they could have done it. I am very old school period.

Vin, you did the right thing. And to show what standup guy you are, You didn't go back to Rainbow and cancel the deal on the L5 like MOST people would have after a better deal came in the guitar you wanted..
You are a very unique, almost angelic dude. You did the right thing. And as a result, you are gonna LOVE that guitar bro. Love it.
We should all be happy for you and not give you shit about it.
That is a WORLD CLASS guitar, bought by a world class dude. We love you Vin.

Enjoy that L5 Acoustic with the Floater. You deserve it.

Oh, I get principal. But if it was LeGrand you most wanted, that's where I'm confused. Personally I prefer the look of the L5P to the LeGrand.

+1 on what Joe D. said

A Blonde L-5 is (Choose adjective based on your age) cool, keen, chill, dope, boss, bad, wonderful, unbeatable, classic, awesome, epic, etc.

I love L5 tailpieces. I love/hate finger tailpieces. Love the way they work/look. Don't like doing string changes on them too much. Who said I am not ever going to buy a LeGrand ? The fat lady still ain't singing and probably never will.
Don't be surprised if the lemon burst is in my hands in the very near future. I don't see any of you buying it.

But they recently sold this one for less than $5800.

I don't get dealer pricing structure.

Agreed. A more aesthetically pleasing tailpiece has been, never will be, conceived.

Agreed on the tailpiece. I love the DA stairsteps (Both New Yorker and Excel), the Guild Harp and the Super 400, but the L-5 tailpiece is the cats whiskers...

Their are windows of opportunity. I got a brand new blonde Super 400 for $7.6K. Those windows don't open very often.
I am not a patient man. It is only money. Nothing more than a tool. Yes I love a great deal as much as anybody but at my age time is no longer on my side. We are all on a one way bus ride and you never know who is getting off at the next stop. Better grab the brass ring today. You may not be here tomorrow. Patrick has been gone for a year next month. Time takes no prisoners.

    2b,
According to Garrett at TMZ, last year they needed to move inventory and apparently worked out some deal with Gibson to classify some guitars as "shop worn used" . These were essentially brand new guitars and timing was everything. I happen to be in the store when the sale took place and picked up a gorgeous L5p
around the same time Vinny bought his Super 400.
Of course that spoiled us and we're expecting that sale all the time . I also fell in love with the Lemonburst Legrand , and like Vinny was waiting for the blow out sale... - that has yet to materialize.

Here are a few pics of the L5p I picked up.

I was thinking about the Sup' 4' you scored on and was thinking, so what the L5P cost you a bit more. I mean, we're talking a set of blondes here! Marilyn and Jayne Mansfield?

Jaynie, that's what I was saying. But 2b, he's got this thing about Gwen Stephanie.. I don't know man..

Jayne, Gwen, I'd imagine that L5P would make an "Impression" on Wes too!

I am contemplating on either Grace Kelly or Gwen Stephani as the name. Both float my boat, of course well after my wife. I would need a fire engine red guitar to name after my wife. She is a red headed Irish girl that makes Maureen O'Hara in Quiet Man look like Mary Poppins.

Harvey at Rainbow is a real stand up guy. I told him Gibson has a brand new LeGrand in stock and if he could get me that instead. He asked who told you this ? I told him TMZ. He told me Tommy at TMZ is one of his best friends. Harvey said to cancel his order and get the LeGrand from Tommy. I told Harvey I made a deal with you can't you get it for me ? Harvey refused and said I want Tommy to get the sale. Harvey's concern was that I got exactly what I want and that his friend got the sale. How is that for a man of honor. I spent a while trying to talk Harvey into getting me that axe. He wouldn't do it. He kept saying that TMZ needs the sale more than me. Honorable man !!!

So a LeGrand it is. Makes more sense. I have 2 L5's.

We're always happiest when we express to others what our desires are. Dealers included. I'm happy to hear you spoke up for what you most wanted Vinny. That Harvey really sounds like one heckuva guy! Now something to salivate over....a Sunburst!

I think LeGrands are very nice little guitars. Congratulations!

I'm curious what kind of case you will get with it. Mine (a 98) had a quite large case, so large in fact, that i never felt like carrying it, and eventually had to sell it because it got on my nerves. Partly because it was covered with genuine fine leather which would be ruined very soon if i had really used it.

A wise decision, as you already have two L5's , Steve's LG is absolutely
stunning, we are agog waiting to see your new masterpiece now, they
are the tops IMO. good luck with it Vinny , it looks a truly great instrument.
