Congrats, 2B. That one sounds good just lookin' at it!! A perfectly iconic modern L5-CES, quite like the one that twinkles in the twilight at the end of many of my own daydreams.

I will look forward to any follow-up you care to share, especially in comparison to the other great archtops you have known.

    Long may she run!

    Hi 2Born,
I second that thought--please post some comparison insights on your beautiful new acquisition! Jeff

Selling a bunch of guitars and thinking you have it "down" to just the right ones is just like drying out for a few weeks... you are now ready to tie one on big-time and it will feel so good...

I was getting really nervous when 2b went down to only 3 guitars. Their is nothing worse than a recovered Guitaroholic.
Hope you love your new axe buddy !

    2b ,
Congratulations - the quintessential jazz guitar. What a beautiful sunburst with tasteful shading.

I agree with you and Greentone regarding value / pedigree of Gibson's - they do seem to hold up very well.

Remember the old slogan "When only a Gibson is good enough" has certainly stood the test of time .

    Wishing you the best.

I'm always tickled when guitars appreciate, but I never count on that. This is especially true, these days with changing demographics and all. Seems to me that young people aren't the musicians that their forebears were. Just sayin'.

One thing I know: I wish I bought ALL the Roland TR-808 and E-MU SP 1200 drum machines I saw back in the 80s. They were a couple hundred $$. Now, they are $5K and up.

Picking collectibles, though, is like picking stocks. We just don't have good foresight.
GT, I see guitars as investments. I see Gibson guitars as good investments.

i agree the musicianship among the young has faded. Its a shame.

When I saw what you said about the Roland TR808 I ran into the basement and ripped it apart looking for mine. I was disappointed to find that my 808 is only a 505. Damn..

Stunning 2b...absolutely stunning. I think after seeing how beautiful that guitar is I am going to go over to one of mine and kick it, show it your pic, and ask why it couldn't look like that....

Feel free to take more pictures of that guitar and post them.

A Darker Sunburst L5CES or Super 400 are my ideas of the quintessential Jazz guitar. Yours just has that look!

Remember this video, which features a Super 400 that looks kind of like yours? Its been posted and reposted often.

Yep, she did. After not acquiring a single guitar for nearly 2 years, I don't count the Wu, I've had 4 guitars arrive in 2 weeks. So much for getting out of guitars. It's summer in the NW, and I've had other projects going on, but I'll get around to shooting her eventually.
